What should I do? I have a quality forum and portal site in the weight loss area, and I used to have great SERPs in December. After January 1st, my SERPS have dropped a few pages, and every day I check they seem to be 1 position lower. I'm quite worried here as I haven't changed anything. Any ideas?
Well, it is probably time to try link-building some. But you should also consider whether what your site offers is unique information on your topic and whether there is anything you should be adding to your site. Fresh content plus links should help you in the long run, if not in the short run. Perhaps you should also try the social bookmarking / stumbleupon scene to promote your site. If you have quality to offer, that should get you traffic and links.
Hi! Something is happening in Google, look around different DC, and wait maybe tomorrow your back! Google is Google!!!!!!!!! Best regards, Jakomo
My site is the authority on the subject and is FULL of unique content/articles we have written, as well as a discussion forum with nearly 8000 members and 40,000 posts. I guess google thinks that .EDU hacked spam pages are higher quality than my site.... I looked through the pages that replaced my SERPs and they are 95% .EDU sites that got hacked and now have link spam on them.
Well, in that case it's pretty simple: report them to google. http://www.google.com/contact/spamreport.html
checking if you have duplicated content http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2006/12/deftly-dealing-with-duplicate-content.html
This is the time of year for fittness related stuff so expect sites to actively go after those keywords, SPAM or not expect more competition at diffetrent times of the year.
