I have been bouncing around in the SERPs from page 3 to page 6. It seems to change almost daily. I have been making some changes but nothing too drastic. I have noticed sometimes my homepage is listed and other times an interior pages is listed. Could this be related?. Thanks, Rico
for newer sites it is usual... Also, depends of datacentres, changing and other stuff... just don't bother until you don't do some kind of black hat... Other than that, check if you disabled personalized search and to log off while checking positions...
The site is about 3 years old so I don't think newness could be the problem. Personalized search is a possibility thought, I have a bunch of google accounts that I switch between thought out the day. I'll see if this helps. Any other ideas? Thanks.
Google's Caffeine update makes for indexing and ranking changes 50% faster. Rankings can change daily, and you may also be affected by whether or not you're logged into Google (at least on google, that is). A great free tool to track your rankings with is "WebCEO" - you can set up a profile and select your KWs, automatically check your rankings daily - and there shouldn't be any discrepancy, regardless of what accounts you're logged into. good luck! -E
So, my problem was personalized search. I turned it off and my rank has been much more consistent +/- 5 positions instead of +/-20. Thanks for the tips. I tried the WebCEO program. It seems to do a lot more than I need and the free version is pretty limited for what I needed it for. I think this program would be best for a business person or other non-programmer. Thanks for the suggestions guys.
