My SERP dropped after the PR updates

    Hi,

One of my site's PR went from PR - to PR 2. and some pages are PR 3 now. thanks for google for this new year PR update.

However, one of my keyword (average comeptitive 3 words keyword) is dropped from page 4 to page 22. other keywords are about the same, no changes.

I keep an eyes on my SERP for all my keywords DAILY. I am wondering if anyone has experiences in SERP up and down right now?

    Is it a google penalty?

I do not think it is penalty just give it some time everything should be back after this global update.

I think this is due to preparation for Caffeine.

I agree. I don't think it has anything to do with the change in PR. Give it time.

thanks guys, but I don't think it's caffeine, because all other keywords' serp unchanged.

just one of my major keyword is dropped.

I was simply wanting to know if it's normal and it will raise back up or not.

I had something similar happen to one of my blog at about the PR update timing before this one. I had one keyword disappear from the serp and it came back up to page one again in a week or so.

I believe that's the Google Dance effect.
    This happens occasionally.

Not a penalty- most likely sites that linked to you lost PR as well. That makes you lose your PR.

PR updates do not effect serps, they are simply a visual representation of what is already there or been there. Just because PR visually appears to be higher than it did, doesn't mean that the site has anymore authority than it did a few days before the update.
