Hi, I am confused as to why my SERP differs for the same keyword phrase on google.co.uk and google.com I have a co.uk domain name. My domain has a SERP of 12 for a keyword serch phrase on google.co.uk and yet my I have a SERP of 169 for the same keyword phrase on google.com I was not expecting to achieve the same SERP on google.com as I am for google.co.uk, but I wasn't expecting there to be so much difference. Would it have made any difference if I had a .com domain name or is there some other reason? Jimbob
Thats how it would be, even though I too didn't expect this much of a difference. Yes, co.uk domain is helpful for better serp in google UK. IP address - hosting location - also matters to some extend, where are you hosted?
We are hosted in the UK. However, our competitors (which are UK companies) who rank SERP 1 - 10 on google.co.uk are rank well on google.com, between SERP 5 - 15. Would I rank an better on google.com if I had a .com domain even if I was hosted with the same UK host that hosts my co.uk site? I still find it odd that there is such a difference and why competitor A only ranks marginally better on google.co.uk and significantly better on google.com. For example; Google.co.uk - mydomain.co.uk = SERP 12 Google.co.uk - mycompetitor_A.com = SERP 6 Google.com - mydomain.co.uk = SERP 164 Google.com - mycompetitor_A.com = SERP 14 Jimbob
