Hello everyone, I didn't know where I would be posting this but I decided to post it in General Chat, please move if it is in wrong place. Now I would like to put this theory to the general community. I have seen a few companies that have decided to use this, mostly games (Gaia) and that is about it. I find this an amazing theory. Now the theory is: People will do something they are specifically told NOT to do and a tempting stage. Example: - Project: Red Button - DO NOT CLICK THE BUTTON! As shown above, I can be certain that a number of people will infact have clicked that button and found their way to my page. This is in no way of a cheap scam to direct people to my site but to show that, people will do things that they are told not to, and many marketing specialists have decided to use this method on the internet! The compulsion in our human nature forces us to do something that stands out to us. I hope everyone is interested in this theory and I believe it will possible amount to a great advertisement method. Theres my share Let me know what you guys think!
Hey, if it works (even a little), I say "Go for it!" I wouldn't use it as my only method to draw clicks, but it sure can't hurt. And you're right, this is in no way a scam, in my opinion.
Yep, as stated, Humans are born curious! It's a great marketing idea that has not been explored a lot, curiosity!
I agree. It's a good method to generate traffic. But I think the bounce rate will be very high. So I think it's not a good way to generate quality traffic.
I've always liked how people become so intrigued and tempted when it comes to links and buttons. It works pretty good especially when pulling pranks! You can always use them URL shorteners and have it redirected to a shock website! People just tend to click them, one way or the other. Trust me, works all the time.
Grimm you have a great point! The ignorance of the fact that the link could really contain anything Glad people agree!
I have seen a nearly similar method on a site a few days before and saved the banner: What do you think?
