for some reason when i login, there's no "Update" button when editing a page, or "Publish" button for a new page on my site. however these buttons DO exist when editing or creating a new Post, just not a Page.

I've tried deactivating all my plugins but that didnt work. any idea what the problem could be?

    please please please help!!!!!!!!

reinstall wordpress - it will not affect your content for the most part - backup your widgets first

Sounds like all of your files didn't install properly.
I would start with re installing your wp-admin folder, I believe those functions are in there.
Or just do a complete re install as @seogawd suggested.
Just be sure to protect your wp-content folder and config.php file..you don't need to overwrite those.

Overwrite Wp-admin Folder. And The things will be alright.

Agreeing up to Both the above Guys.

Make sure you have a Backup of the things. Once if you run out into something, it shouldnt make you a problem. so back up at first, and then proceed.
(Backup Only Wp-content And Database Config Files, Thats Enough..! )

    Thanks.

Is the entire section missing or just the actual buttons?
Do you see any other buttons such as "Save as Draft" or any edit buttons to change publishing date?

i figured it out, and am kicking myself for this one. My "screen options" were set to 1 column, and for some reason that hides the buttons on the right rather than moving them below the posting comment. So once I changed it to 2 columns, it appeared.

Make sure you have the latest wordpress version. If your hosting company have cpanel, use fantastico. They have the latest wordpress version.

    Good luck,
