This looks like a big setback.. When I search for my domain, all the torrent sites come up with links to download my products, and they are being devoured by thousands and all the links are in good health... Anyone hit with this? what to do?
You can't do anything. Many products of Clickbank are available on torrents.... The obvious thing to ask is whether your "thank you" page is in Google?
well in that case I guess you should try some new product ... if its available on every torrent site or even few , then it would become very difficult for the affiliates to sell it ...
That really sucks.. I'm not sure as to what you can do about it and my first instinct is that you can't do anything about it at all, if music moguls and software companies can't stop it, what chance does a clickbank vendor have? Hopefully someone here might have an answer for you but It's not looking good.
It's not really a HUGE problem, because probably more than half of the people on Internet know nothing about torrents.
I don't think that's even remotely true. I really think most of our clickbank customers aren't the type of people who even know what a torrent is. --- I think it will hurt your sales some, but it shouldn't be *that* bad. Have you noticed a decline yet? I promote your products actually - and have had some success with them. So I'm not pleased to hear this either... But I really don't think that most people who are about to buy this are going to say - hmm... I wonder if I can get it for free on torrents. --- One move you could make is to put "mydomain.net torrent" on a bunch of pages and then to say - "it's not available - click here to buy" or something. That probably wouldn't work too well actually... Just throwing out some ideas. Or at least make more pages with your domain in the title so that they can outrank the torrent sites when people search for your domain. (I just did a search of your domain to see what you were talking about.)
About 60 percent or even higher of the internet population don't even know what a torrent is, or how to use it to download. So don't get too down about it. And besides the ones who use torrents don't normally do much buy off the internet either. So don't worry, the regular people are going to be lost, and probably move on to another site if they happen to end up on a torrent site after searching.
It depends on the type of product. If it is a product directed at internet savy users, then it may hurt sales quite a bit...but if is is like a dog training guide or anything that is not internet related, I don't think you will really be hurt by it being leaked to the torrent sites. The good news is...if that many people are searching for it and seeding it on the torrent sites, then there is obviously a demand for your product! One thing you could do is setup a bunch of torrent accounts and seed fake versions of your product with the same file size. That way you will be able to kind of sabatage some of the downloads. Most people give up on torrents if they try once or twice and end up getting bad downloads. Then, they will hopefully just decide to buy it and save themselves the trouble. Good luck.
Thanks for the great advice. Actually, Sales are up today I don't think it will hurt my sales after thinking about it.. We offer like 60 products, and only a few are in the torrents. Not only that, most of our customers are repeat buyers, and if they get a taste of one of the recordings, they might actually want to try others.. Might actually help a bit. and I agree with the point that "most torrent users aren't buyers anyways".. Torrent users are scavengers and don't want to spend money.. Much appreciated
well, considering i run a torrent-downloading-ebook-disguised-in-a-download-site product, and i dont get too many refunds, i could say that only 15% of the people know about torrents (and thats true, ask random people and most of them dont know.). Water4gas is availlable everywhere on torrents, yet they are able to keep a gravity of 900 and rising (well now lowering but thats an ADWORD problem). In my opinion you dont have to worry too much about it.
I managed to get a few of the sites to remove the torrents. It's a pain in the A**, as they all make you jump through hoops to remove content.. But atleast some of them actually respond. Not a big deal
