New Internet Forum Proves Green Is Definitely the Color for Rapid Growth

WEST MIDLANDS, UK, May 5, 2005 – Growing “weed” is risky business, but Internet forum owner, Adam Gronofsky isn’t afraid of taking a risk as he proved last month when he purchased the Internet forum “the420.com”. Just another forum about Marijuana, it was all but withered on the vine. Gronofsky’s experiment in growing an Internet forum started with a name change to Talk Weed and a revamp of the forum “skin”. Seeding the new look with some fresh ideas has proven to be the right mix for rapid growth.

“the420.com was about growing weed,” said owner Gronofsky, “but the name made the forum nearly unrecognizable. The basic skin was pretty bland for people who are looking for a buzz,” he grinned. “Still, the potential for growth was there,” he continued, “so I felt it was worth the risk. Besides, with my screen name, ‘TheWebJunkie’, the topic just seemed to fit!”

Gronofsky’s first move was to improve the visibility of the420.com by changing the name to Talk Weed. In another risky move, he hired a Swedish web designer who he knows only as “steNad”, to add life to the withered forum skin. His gamble paid off. The new Talk Weed looks like a healthy place to visit with a grass green skin and new post design elements that light up a wide range of popular topics in gold.

Where other Internet “weed” forums focus on the political aspects of Marijuana, Talk Weed centers its attention on cultivation and hybridization. Along with the news feeds found on similar sites, Talk Weed offers its members the chance to exchange information about all aspects of Marijuana from seed to harvest and use. Forum topics range from Outdoor Growing to Hydroponics with a few very user-friendly topics like the Recipes Forum and members’ Grow Journals. In its unique “Strains Database”, Talk Weed members can show off their latest hybrids and finest cultivars.

So far, Gronofsky’s garden plan has paid off as Talk Weed adds an average of 40+ members a week. Still, TheWebJunkie knows that cultivation is an on-going thing. Currently Talk Weed is running a contest to improve member registrations. Future plans for the forum include expansion of the Strains Database and “Sticky” Tutorials for members.

All in all, Talk Weed is coming up… well, green— showing both the way to cultivate an Internet business as well as its subject matter!

I like the way its written, although I would cut out a little of the detail for more impact. Such as 40+ members - should said 'rapid increase' or something
Also, drop in a few more different keywords, in your case: cannabis, smoking, smoke, plant etc..might as well get as much bang for your buck.

I would put it on a blank page and use this to check densities (no harm) and to see what other words you can squeeze in.

You're a funny guy, pay $50.00 for a press ad and ask me to program for an hour or more for five or ten dollars?

    Thanks for the compliment. :/

Its fine as far as content but it is formated completely wrong as a Press Release.

In its current format, it couldn't actually be released to any media outlets although I suspect that may not be what you are using it for.

Well, PRWeb and PRLeap are the only two I have any experience with. Both generate a good amount of backlinks. Like I said before, the subject matter might cause a rejection, but after reading through it, I bet it gets through.

    Hi WebJunkie!

I agree with some of the thoughts that have been expressed so far. The piece seems to lack the lavish flair often expected from a press release. As it is, the work appears more like a basic, albeit structurally and substantively sound, informative article. Nonetheless, the said press release would still serve you well, as the sheer novelty which your site offers will surely generate a lot of interest. The mere mention of what your site is about is enough to fetch for you a lot of visitors.

The real concern, really, is how to broadcast it.

If some avenues would refuse to publish press release because of the relatively delicate nature of the subject, you could perhaps assure them that your site is promoting a healthy discussion on the merits of the matter, rather than suggesting marijuana use.

Best of luck on your endeavour, WebJunkie! Fly high!
