The PayPerPost banners plastered everywhere on your site might have something to do with it.

Most likely, yes, you have been penalised for selling links on your site. Perhaps you've been buying links too, but from the front side, it's far too obvious that these are pay-per-post articles on your site - come on, the PPP ad is one of the first ads you see on the site. You really can't expect much better. At the end of the day, as we all know, I couldn't care less if you had 4 phD's in biomolecular science, Google is smarter than you. You will never be able to disguise paid links, no matter what you do. The ones that are, just haven't been caught....yet. Just out of interest, have you noticed an increase or a drop in traffic from Google within the last 5-10 days?

    Thanks

Is it fair to do so, or should I try RealRanks but most advertisers are now relying on PR and alexa.

Traffic from Google does not change and sometimes increase, how Google calculate to determin PR for one site?

PR is based on, in a nutshell, the number, and quality, of contextual links pointing to your site.

Thus, for a site about goldfish, having 10 PR0 backlinks from credit card companies is about as useful as 1 PR0 backlink from a website about fish. That is, of course, in theory. In relation to that, I raised a site I used to work on from PR0 to PR3 simply by using 'dofollow' blogs which to the large part were all completely unrelated in content. If you really want to say "I own a PageRank 10 website"....buy Google:p

IF you want to gain back your PR asap, first thing you need to do is ---> Remove all of the PPP sponsored tags immediately...

As I know, you now cannot longer benefit from the PPP when your PR drops to 0, so better just leave the PPP, and then drop Big G a letter about it. Maybe they will show some mercy on you, who know...

Yes, when my blog is at PR2, a lot opportunities are available up to $50/post of 50 words but now, no more. I will consider whether I will continue to work with PPP or not.

Thanks for your guide and tell me how to get back to PR2 easily without removing PPP tags? is this possible?

The reason might be because of the Paid Posting .. :) Google is slapping everyone involved in this !!

have you check all places you placed/bought your links. they might have been dropped in PR so that the benefit you got will decrease too.

One of my sites is also punished, from PR3 to PR0, but the traffic remain the same as before.

PR Means nothing, don't take it to heart, and DEFINATELY do NOT let G rule your website. It's your's to do with as you please.. allowing G to dictate what you do on your site only feeds it's machine.

PR doesn't dictate traffic nor does it ad anything other than a value if you want to sell links on places like DP.

PR2 is not much, you can start a new blog. Google is not the only search engine. Try to increase traffic. If you have sufficient traffic you can still earn from paid per post. cheers. :)

I second everyone's thoughts here, too. I had my site slapped in the PR wars of 10/07 finally gained some juice back after doing some other link building activities. However, my directory has taken the biggest dive from a PR3 to A PR 0. Traffic is getting better though...lol Take that Google!!!

I personally feel that the PR system is utter crap. Traffic and content quality are better indicators of a good website than PR.

The PR system encourages people to artificially build links and even spam.

    I wouldn't worry about losing a pr2 anyways ;)

try removing all the ads, and add more content

    cheers
