My PR dropped to 0. Am I banned

I have a website that was PR 3 and recently dropped to PR 0. The website still shows up in the same spot when I search Google though. Is it possible that my site wasn't banned and only penalized? Is there a way to check if my site was banned? Thanks

Oh well that sounds like good news but the PR dropped over a week ago. Does it take that long to update?

Why would it be penalised / banned? What have you done to it to make you think that?

If it was banned you could not see your sites on the serps , this must a temporary problem.

    Hello,

Did you do something spammy before the site PR dropped down?

If not, most probably it is a temporary problem!

    Best Regards,

I've seen this type of activity happen before to one of my sites during the last PR update.

So as others mentioned this is probably a temporary problem or could be because PR is going through some changes.

    Good luck.

It may be that your PR was just on the border of PR 3 and fell back to PR 2.99 due to links disappearing or being discounted. Did you submit to a link submission service lately or have you been involved in too many traded links or triangular linking schemes or only purchasing links. Any one of those could have caused your links to be discounted and links drive PR.

listings can be erratic at times. Give it a week or so and come back to it. Hopefully it will have fixed itself.

The fact you can still find your site in Google searches suggests that your website has not been banned :)

I believe the PR updates are going on. Different data centers show differnet PR's. Wait till the PR update is over.

Yes, these things do occur while the process of PR update is being carried out

    Hi,

i can understand it could be really embrassing for any site owner. let the things cool down, & then check your site PR through different PR checkers and if still getting 0 then make sure you hav not done some thing spammy activity to fool the goole. your last weapon is to write google for explanation.

    hope it solve things...

I thought there might be a duplicate content issue due to the fact that it was PR 3 before I submitted the site to a few hundred directories with the same title and description. I didn't know any better so I started using the InForm mozilla add-on to speed things up. But apparently that is not duplicate content. And I had another site drop from PR 3 to PR 2 so I thought I had screwed up big time.

It's either being penalized for link spamming (unlikely) or its just one of those temporary hiccups that happen when Google updates PR across its servers (likely).

Some links might have disappeared or do not count as much as they used to in the past......

concerning the usage of the firefox addon:

addons are pretty cool, but not always really helpfull! Have that in mind.

also you should always research before submitting, check for the PR ranks, SERPs, etc...

    regards
