Hello All, Wanted to see what you all think of my portfolio site. It is a work in progress From what i can tell now my main pre-loader isnt pre-loading the site and 2 xml links need corrected on my slide show. Anyways its danielmartinec.com Thanks for looking. CNC please.
I love it, it loads fast and looks very classy, one thing you might want to do is fill up the empty space at the top (unless that is what you were referring to as not loading) and there seems to be bit much space between the Welcome text on your home page and the site navigation tags. Overall I love it! Great Job!
Thanks everyone. No this is not a template. I made it custom for myself. The only part that i didnt make was the slideshow...That is slideshow-pro. As for the content management system...not that im aware of. Just a bunch of xml files and .Swf files and stuff. This one took me about 3 weeks to build. I dont build websites as my primary profession so it was just kind of a side project. Anyway glad you all like it. Thank you.
Wow! That's one of the best websites I've seen in a while, very snazzy and professional, and I liked some of the humour and wit you put in the content. I'm pretty impressed that that was your side project, looks so good, love the colour scheme, and also the little splat on the left side of the page. Really good, spot on
It works pretty fast indeed! Well done! It is simple but yet it has all the necessary elements. Good job.
I hate flash intros and it took 10-15 seconds to load. If I specifically wanted to know more about you personally i would dig, but if I was just surfing your site I would bounce.
Well im sorry to hear you "hate flash intros". as for the load time issue, i explaind that the preloader is not working at the momenet. I would also assume that someone reading this would specifically want to know about me since it is a personal portfolio site for acquiring jobs from employers.
Nice, I would suggest you reduce the font size quite a bit, it will make it look slicker. It looks quite big with a 1280x1024 res., so it must look huge on a lower res. and therefore look like an old fashioned site. You must always consider that 75% of internet users still use 1024x728 screen res., and so reduce yours to this when testing. If you want ideas about full screen flash sites, have a look at my 3rd signature, browse the site to website templates.
Very nice. A bit of advise from the consumer side (I buy alot of design services); while the personal information in the "Me" page is helpful, I would like to here about your design approach and how you conduct business. Not that I do not care about your personal information but when I am screening designers I want to know how they work and what process they go through to make sure that the client's goals are met. Also, you might consider highlighting a certain project and telling us more about it. Other than the image, what was the goal of the project? How was the graphic used? Testimonies are always great too! Other than that, looks great, easy to navigate!
Thanks for the compliments and advice. As stated , it is still a work in progress. Most of the text is placeholder from my previous blog site. In the slideshow there is an option where i can ad discriptions to the images which I intend to do. Thanks again for the comments
