I really don't like the fonts on here, especially the top banner. it feels 'bubble text'. I think it's good for the right audience, but the audience I'm trying to aspire to are people who look for a professional, corporate look with a flare of creativity.
It looks nice. But I would have preferred to use the actual text instead of images in the heading (using h1, h2, h3 and styling it with CSS). I love the colors one other thing, you have included the javascript in the html file itself. it is much more safe to put it in an external .js file and include it in the website.
I like it overall. fonts are a good choice. What i would suggest with the email is create a contact page after the About button. You could put a simple contact form, with maybe a option for potential client to add more info.
when you click on the images and they load bigger, within a black box how do you do this is it javascript?
it is a little dark...can you "lighten" it up some...in addition the logo is a bit small for the space it is in...in that space "welcome to Solentice" how about putting something like a rotating image or something multimedia... hope that helps...
Really nice design, although I'm not sure about having a light background for a very dark design. My eyes kept going towards the lighter areas to look for content. And yes, very nice work in the portfolio, kudos!
I think you're spot on in that respect, but I'd like to clarify why I feel that way. I think what's happening is that when on a smaller resolution (800x600), you see less of the white section on the horizontal outer edges. Now, I'm always eager to learn more about aspects of interest points in designs (in other words, why us humans feel some sections are more interesting than others). I am glad you've come across this, and I totally agree that it would work better with a black background, however I go back to my point on the smaller resolution. What I'm seeing is, is when you're using a maximized web browser with 1280x1024, you're able to see more of the bland pattern that the white side section contains, and of course the amount of white section compared to dark on the page changes percentages.. with 800x600, it's much less, the darker section has only (I'd say about) 5% total screen view, whereas using 1280x1024 maximized it is far greater (30% at least I think). Now, it seems because of this, my eyes focus on the dark section because as I look at the whole page, what I'm looking at directly is the darker section, and the lighter section I can still see (this is actually called a name in eye biology, and the reason humans are able to see outside of the retina - you know what's around it (hence, when you're looking at someone, you can still see other people beside you) ).. This also causes colour defect because your rods in your eyes don't flow colour.. that's why when you can see something beside you, it's hard to tell what colour it is.) - *side note, cones transfer colour, rods transfer luminance ( see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye ) I believe this is why the outer sides seems too white and why I chose it to be like that initially. I don't think I shall change it because people are only going to use larger and larger screen resolutions. Thanks.
I am thinking of changing my whole portfolio for a flash based one, but I love html/css for the fact that it's extremely fast on slow computers. It is tempting to use flashy banners and so on, but I quite like the way I've orchestrated this portfolio.. a kind of certain feeling I get with it.. It's fast, easy to navigate, nice on the eyes, simple too. Though, I will do a flash based portfolio during the next 3 weeks and it will have some flashyness. - It will be hard to choose which one I like most though. Thanks
