I have a football related blog which gets a good amount of traffic from Google - in fact over 80% of my traffic comes from there. I started in in November 2008, and it has only had 6 clicks ever! What's gone wrong!?!? It has had 10's of thousands of impressions, leaving a CTR of 0.05%! Only noticed two ad units so if there was another I missed it. The small text link unit was below the fold and too unobtrusive. The other unit had ads that didn't match the content. I think graphic ad might do well on your site and up higher on the page.
"too unobtrusive" That would equate to the ad unit being desirably noticeable. Don't understand that, web users don't want obtrusive ads that get in the way as I am sure this guy wants members to return and enjoy their time on his blog. OP: You need a subtle small banner ideally 468x60 at the very top that will be the first thing that your visitors see when they arrive on your blog. If Adsense can't serve decent ads which seems to be the case then you should try a sportbook affiliate banner offering a free bet, or you could find an affiliate program for anything sports related i.e football games, football kit etc. You could always have this affiliate banner at the top and then have one of these large 160x600 Adsense units across the side of the content.
If you want to succeed with adsense, your site has to be constructed in such a way that the ad is right in front of your visitor at the precise moment that they are looking to leave the site. There is no clear way to find the ads on your site. They are not positioned properly. You need to add a large rectangle in the body of the text somewhere. TomG.
I would readily agree with this suggestion as well....Try experimenting with the colors too. Some prefer having colors that blend with the theme of the site while others prefer the ads to stand out in contrast colors. Try to do mix and match and see what works best for you. Regards, RightMan

1st reason is not relavant ads....Bcos No good contents in your blog...Just you are posting a page screenshot , video,photo ...No text contents in your blog..So first write contents in your blog related to your screenshots, videos,photo..Then only google crawl and show relavant ads..... second is Only Two ad units..Not enough.. Add some more units in bottom of the page and right side of page.. The Top ad unit is not good color...Dont use more colours..Make it blue headlind and black content..thats enough.. Ad link adsense in top navigation and right side....

If you don't mind me asking, what is the average length of time per visitor? The reason why I ask it that your blog looks crap. Get a nice header designed for $10 from these forums. Perhaps think about getting your own wordpress blog on your own hosting so you can be alot more flexible in your design. I am a football manager fan but our blog makes me go blind when I go to it and I want to leave right away! I notice you have excellent content that gets updated frequently therefore you are 90% there! You can waste your time on trying to improve positioning of ads etc but I reckon improve the look of your site first and foremost! Good Luck
Currently around 2 minutes - according to Google Anyltics. With a bounce rate of over 50%! Your comments are very helpful. I now know what to focus on, going forwards.
