My phpLD directory is DEAD :(

Has anyone got any experience of this. My directory:

    http://www.yourspaced.com

is completely dead. I've looked though the database and it seems fine, I've re-uploaded all the files and that has made no difference. I've got a blog running as a subdomain and there's no problems with that.

    I'm completely stumped.

It's not loading at all for me, if you have re-uploaded files then it must show some stuff at least. If you have backup of database with you, then simply do clean install and restore the backup. What's the sub domain address?

    Maybe you(r):

    - have an empty index.html file in that folder
    - a problem with the .htaccess file
    - script needs to be uploaded in binar or ascii mode

First thing I would try - upload a temporary .html file the root, like temp.html and just put some fake text in it, the hit the temp.html to verify your Site is setup correctly (maybe it's a hosting issue)

Next I would try taking out the .htaccess file - this might also be spoofing your structure incorrectly. After you remove that file, try hitting your homepage or the temp.html

If the issue still isn't resolved, try installing a fresh script on a different sub-domain on your site, point that to yoru current db, and see if that new sub-domain works. Then you can just switch your subdomain with your domain when you want to go live.

I would guess it's .htaccess that's the problem.

Is your directory hosted at Godaddy, if so that is the problem.

My guess would be that your index.php file is fubar'd

Simple deduction: Notice how your submit runs fine? (separate php file)
Notice how the Homepage, Latest Links & Top Hits does not work? (all use same file)

Check your index.php. Re-upload a new one if need be.

I think it has something to do with your main index file like otehres have said.

Thanks for your feedback guys. I will try your suggestions when I get home tonight. Bizarrely, my other directory http://www.slapmatt.com seems to be working OK, until you get to the submit page and then that is hosed!

    It's clearly not my week.

It might be temp problem. It is working fine for me. BTW, your urls are not seo friendly. seo friendly urls are recommended.

Yes, the submit page is hosed when I try it as well. I wonder if your host performed some maintenance on the server such as reordering the accounts to free up disk space and these problem files got hosed during the maintenance?
