My phpBB forum disappeared without notice

    Up until February 22, 2013, I had a free phpBB bulletin board:
    http://lotterygambling.phpbbnow.com/

    I had version 2 installed: free with their advertising.

    Then, it disappeared without notice. I only see this error message:
    Unable to connect to database on 'localhost' with user 'apache2'
    Please check your settings in default.config.inc.php!

    Worse, phpBB site makes it impossible for me to contact them. They should have sent me a notice so that I could have done something.

    Does anyone know how to deal with a situation like this (other than legal action)?

    You have a forum on the free forum hosting phpbbnow.com and apparently they are out of business. :) In future try to use your site on a professional hosting to avoid these problems.

    This is the main downside of using free hosting for your blogs and forums.

    Their services are free, but not stable and may be out of business tomorrow.
