    Have you clean the registry and defrag your hard disk?

    +1 for tune up utilities. Try disabling some start up programs. Most of the time you have too many programs that launch on start up and will end up "clogging" your system and making it sluggish everytime you boot up.

    If you have the money for a hardware upgrade, get an SSD :)

    Windows "magically" slows down with time. How old is your Windows install? It might be time to reinstall.

    Press Windows key + R
    Type "cmd" without the quotes and press ENTER
    Then type "systeminfo" without quotes and press ENTER
    Then look at the report, and you will find your Original Install Date.

    I can recommend you a set of programs that will significantly improve performance of your system, use them from time to time, and your OS will have a longer life:
    Defraggler
    CCleaner
    RegistryBooster

    Use Ccleaner and clean your registry. Also, use some good Anti virus / Internet security to clean your PC.

    I reinstall Windows every couple of MONTHS. :D
    I have multiple images of my Windows drive (taken with Macrium Reflect), e.g 1.) Clean install 2.) Clean install with drivers loaded 3.) All applications installed etc..
    That way I can turn back time whenever Windows starts to feel a bit sluggish.

    Firstly, to do a computer cleanup is to;

    Download a Free trial of Malwarebytes: http://malwarebytes.org - Update and run 'Quick Scan'
    -Reason for 'Quick Scan' it does System Files and directories, no need to do a full as most commonly, they're located there, if you want to do a 'Full Scan' by all means do so.

    After that has completed and removed, don't reboot.

    Download a Free trial of SuperANTISpyware: http://superantispyware.com

    Update and Run scan. (Becareful, sometimes it likes to remove the Executable from extensions. - .exe) - May want to skip using this if you're cautios.

    Download a Free trial of Kaspersky Anti-Virus (Not Suite): http://kaspersky.com
    Update and run quick scan. (Might have to reboot to finish install)

    After does it's scan, remove anything you need to and reboot.

    Go through your 'Add/Remove' programs and remove any software you no longer use.

    Lastly, Download CCleaner and Install it. http://piriform.com/ccleaner

    Don't open it just yet.

    Download, CCleaner Enhancer. http://download.cnet.com/CCEnhancer/3000-18512_4-75212385.html

    This install's approx. 270 more apps for better cleaning.

    Set the stuff you want to clean.

    and clean it.

    After that's all done, use the registry cleaner that's built in there and do a full scan.

    remove everything. that you see, there is backup option.

    After that's all done;

    Goto, start >> run >> type: msconfig

    On the 'General Tab' Select 'Selective Startup'.

    Goto 'Startup', Uncheck everything you don't want to boot up;

    Example:

    Yahoo! Messenger
    MSN Messenger
    Java
    Flash
    Google Updater

    Stuff like that...

    Stuff you want to keep, If you're on wireless, make sure you keep your wireless services intact as well as printer spooler.

    Hope that helps.

    99% you've got some trojans, do what EastsideHosting said, Malwarebytes are really the best atm! Search for some good threads in the net for optimizing your windows after that.

    If you're lazy you could always call a friend over to your house to help you with it then buy him a drink or something.
