my pc gets restarted when i put on my internet wire

well don't know what is going on with my pc, it automatically gets restarted when i put on my internet wire to the lan card, within 20 seconds pc gets restarted, and it keeps happening, is there some virus in the pc ?

has something like this happened to anyone here ?
some how i managed to check with my laptop and its working fine here, initially i though must be some network issue.

put the lan card in the restart the computer?

might not be a virus, just might not be compatibles

 

u mean i take the land card out and put it again in other slot ?
and then try using the net connection ?

 

Of course the simple solution is "dont put in the wire!".. but I can see how that would be difficult if you want to check your website.
Have you looked at the event-viewer logs (assuming you're using XP) ? That might point you in the right direction..

 

i think that's a good idea....aka 'reseating' the card.

might not been have to try a new slot
