Hi, I just want to know if this is normal, for the most part my blog is getting more popular (it's been up since August), the uniques are going up and down, but my pageviews just keep on increasing. Last month I had 1106, this month it's 1375 and it's only the 4th of the month.
Well, see, my StatPress thing on my WordPress admin doesn't do that. It's all separated by Visitors, Pageviews, Spiders, and Feeds.
Yes, it's normal as you are building up a community. When the income from your blog starts dropping you should consider using PPM instead of PPC to generate revenue. I also suppose that you are aiming at increasing your "feed readers" count, and all that translates back into less unique visitors. You can work into making your blog more friendly for search engines and trying to get more "new" visitors from SEs Best info I've found about maintaining/monetizing your blog was at problogger.net
This is a trend that can be applied the majority of new blogs, my blog is about 2 months old and I am getting around 5k visitors monthly, with about 2.4 page views per user when a month or so back I was getting near 1.5 each. As you gain long term subscribers they are more likely to continue viewing pages, without actually bringing new traffic with them.
Have you stopped NEW (note: NEW) avenues of promotion? If you've got all the visitors you an from certain communities branch out and advertise in new ones. If your making money from your blog you could always do a little PPC advertising (as long as your building some kind of list or pushing them to join your feed so you can get them back). Doing the digg, stumble, web 2.0 thing? Commenting on other blogs. Guest posts on other blogs. Etc.....
It is normal to have page views going up as blog gets more and more readers since they will be browsing through the rest of your post as well. But I don't think it is normal for uniques to do down. Uniques should be increasing every month since now on top of new visitors to your blog, you have your subscribers as well. It is most probably like what stma have mention that you have stop or reduce your usual marketing efforts. Be consistent in your marketing and try not to turn lazy after getting some results from it unless of course your blog already has 20k subscribers. You are in the right track of marketing your blog since you have retain visitors to become your daily blog reader and so carry on doing with it. You could get better results with a little push from social bookmarking sites which gotten me 15k visitors in the first month of my blog. You can read the thread in here on how I achieve that f you are interested.
