i own a seo friendly directory and i don`t know why i have 400 pages indexed in Google and in MSN and 4k in yahoo. links are like this: <site>/computers/directories <site>/sports/football etc.. but yahoo indexed my pages like <site>/computers/directories/sports/football i noticed this happened only with the empty categories but i might be wrong. is the problem from robots.txt, .htaccess or a coding problem?
xttp://www.links-collector.com/computers/directories/sports/football works?? So i'm confused you made the page, so what's the problem exactly?
Aaaah, I get you. Google is not indexing as deep as Yahoo and MSN, right? This is a common crawling issue with new sites. Get some high PR trusted links.
no, it`s not that xttp://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/advsearch?p=links-collector.com&bwm=p&bwmf=a&bwms=p&b=351 here`s an example xttp://www.links-collector.com/Photography/Sports/Softball i don`t have Sports Category under Photography, i guess you realize this. i also don`t have primary category: Photography so, theoretically, this page doesn`t exists, but if you click it you`ll get to the category Softball which is under the main Category Sports
Have you got a site map? These pages must be getting linked to from somewhere. You can 301 redirect them to the homepage using htaccess to stop this in the future.
those pages still physically exist on your domain. You must go to your ftp client and clean those folders manually, then 301 redirect the effected files from htaccess.
