I started a new site a couple months ago. It was listed in dmoz a few weeks ago, and it has a couple other PR7 backlinks, with over 3,000 backlinks total according to Yahoo. I understand this isn't THAT much... but the PR update today put my homepage at a PR2. I was very surprised to see anything less than a 3. Any ideas on why it's so low? I've had blogs before that have gotten PR4 with a LOT less links that are less authoritative. It's also strange that all of my articles (inner pages) got a PR2 as well. On other sites of mine, the homepage has always been at least one rank higher than the inner pages. Maybe some of my backlinks haven't been indexed yet? and Google is still updating my PR? Any thoughts on why my homepage PR is so low?
The Google Page Rank acts strange sometimes. I got a domain with 10k backlinks (mostly natural) that got penalized for some reason and got PR2 (used to be PR4). Two years later, today, it's PR3. I have domains with less backlinks and higher PR go figure it out! Don't worry about PR, your SERP is much more important (unless you don't sell links of course).
It's could be many reason 1. May be you lose some of quality link time of updation means when Google boots was checking they could not found that quality link . 2. It may your competator Get much quality link compare then you. Yahoo link count and Google link count is different, whihc yahoo count as link Google not and it's may on Google eyes you have some less link
Relevancy matters a lot when it comes to Pagerank, So get good relevant backlinks rather than just plain backlinks..
