You can always use your desired domain to redirect to the blog, therefore not changing your domain but still getting traffic from the desired domain.

I think you do not change the domain, otherwise you will lose the good pr of your blog which is very important.

If you change you domain than i am sure you will loose your PR for back links your can use 301 redirection to get back links for your new domain.

I just *$&%-CANNED a "pageranked" domain for a new domain name. The only domain has 5 years left to expire. I only have one year on the new one. I have already seen better traffic and better revenues on the new domain due to keyword/anchor factors than the old domain ever saw.

So it depends on what the domain is. I have heard people say it a thousand times, pagerank doesnt matter anymore. Which I agree and disagree with to some point.

If your keyword is widget. get rid of your pagerank3 blogspot blog widget.blogspot.com for widget.com

Its just plain, long term, common sense beneficial to your "business" plan

    Yup I agree with this...

    and this...
PR and traffic is absolutely different things... you can build them for each with different way..
If you want high traffic, just build an instant backlink in advertiser firm as Google Adword and etc or make a backlink from other site that has High traffics... :)

Since you're using blogspot.com as your platform,

there is a way you can redirect your current account to your new domain name.

It is real easy, and you don't need another hosting space.

Everything will stay the same, but just the domain name will change.

Off course you just need to pay for the domain which is also cheap

yup, get the 301 redirect in place and the PR should come over to the new site.

I hate to say...but if you intend to put efforts in something of your own, you should make a switch asap. Consider a scenario when after years of efforts, you build traffic and everything... and blogpost decides to close its service! :(

I know that the switching would make you lose your PR but it can be recovered... over a time. The switch would be better and less painful... now, than anytime in the future! :)

    Regards,
