I had my page from my site ranked between 3rd to 5th for 3 keywords I was targeting and all of a sudden today they are all gone my main site is still indexed plus the other pages but this most important one is no longer indexed what could have gone wrong? all I need was build natural backlinks to my site through article submissions, forum posting and stuff no paid backlinks so why would google drop it?
Every once in a while my site disappears, but shows up one or two days later right where it was previously.
I am seeing the exact same thing with our site. We had #1 organic ranking on G yesterday and now today I can't find our site anywhere. It's hard to be patient when you don't know what or why this happened.
one of mine drops out for a week, then comes back for a week, and the cycle continues constantly. very annoying
One of my sites also dropped. It's not even in the top 1000 (used googlerankings.com) It's been 4 days now and no sign of it so far! I worked so hard on that site, not just code, content but also building links and now it's all gone! :s
If anyone is using redirects with masking features I read somewhere that google may take down sites using them. Says we are fooling the search engines. I use some ethical redirects for some of my sites and that has me concerned. I'm not sure which ones they'll decide are against rules and are not? So unpredictable. Hope everyones sites come back.
That's normal. That was also happen to my keywords. All of my keywords got down then a day after it shows again to it's previous position.
thanks guys I did not know it was a common occurence my main site is still indexed and I was not using any redirects it was a blog posting I would give it some time before I check again
hehe, yup, don't panic... especially with the recent Google's mystery changes to the algorithm and what not , once it is all said and done you should be back on top or even higher, due to the bad bad seo guys getting penalized
Mines vanished as well. I know its unpredictable, but one comment here has me a little worried. What do you mean by "using redirects with masking features"? My blog features a lot of external links to /checkurl.php?url=hgvg3u4hiu3h4t384th3b4uih5g35hguihg98q3h4ngjrig5 and so on (base64 encode of the url). The check url script checks the link is good, counts the link click then does a: header("HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently"); header("Location: $url"); The anchor tag has a rel="nofollow" and checkurl.php is blocked via robots.txt Would this be considered a "masking feature" and cause lower rankings? Thanks
Yes, can anyone please answer shinycurves' answer? Some of the outbound links on my site are in the following format mydomainname.com/go.php?url=http://www.outboundURL.net/click-2456077-10470308 Does this mean that I am getting penalized for this? Is it a bad habbit something that I should remove right away?
Thanks for the explanation because I was about to start a thread on this. My page also vanished all of sudden, let's see when it will appear again.
