Hi, Okay so the page I'm going to use for an example is: http://www.learn-how-to-weld.com/mig-welding.html The keyword that I'm trying to win is " mig welding ". So my first question is: 1. When I look at the source code, the two areas on my page to the right are about " gasless mig wire " and " mig welding machines ". So will google read down my page and read the first few words about mig welding then go to those two boxes, then read the rest of the page at the bottom. Well, google should as that is how it is layed out on the page. The question is... Would it be better to have those to boxes at the bottom which would allow the rest of the mig welding text to be read first by Google? Then the second question is 2. What things can people advise for me to change to get better ranking for this page? Cheers, Peter australia
I find the easiest way to determine what google see is by looking at the text only cache like this: http://209.85.229.132/search?q=cache:http://www.learn-how-to-weld.com/mig-welding.html&strip=1 The onsite optimisation seems pretty good. the adjustments you are talking about I don't think are going to make much difference. As far as ranking goes I think your site is quiet young and has very little trust this is probable your biggest problem. Sorry it's the old advice, get backlinks. Maybe change your sig link here so that it's got the anchor text you need.
Some people say, that the closer your keyword to the header the more benefits you have. I am not a fan of this theory. Usually I use a keyword in a header block, h1 heading, main part and bottom block. And of course inner links with a keyword anchor.
Will changing my anchor text to keywords as opposed to what I just have now make a slight difference?
See I jsut thought that a simple url link that I already had would be good enough. SO how do i add anchor text then?
A huh got it. How can I do this anchor text in other forums signatures that do do have that add link button?
your H2 keywords are not in the title tag your first paragraph does not have a keyword link i would also rewrite the title
gino, I did not know this SEO tip. So the only two H2 keyword that I assume you mean are, "gasless mig wire" and "mig welding machines". Then I should put them in the tittle meta tag then? What if for arguments sake I had say 10 H2 keywods. As in I had too many to put in the tittle tag. What would you do then? And first paragraph no keyword link...I was not aware of this SEO tip either, thank you. Does this link have to be internal or external to another site? or doesn't matter? Peter
And that link in the 1st paragraph, what should it be about? I'm thinking it might be better to be a link going to another mig welding page with the anchor text having the word "mig welding" in it. Or doesn't it really matter and I could just link it to say " arc welding "?
Do some link building. It helps to increase your SERP ranking. Use the keyword your prefer with your URL.
