My own name in Domain Name = Good or bad?

Discussion in 'Domain Names' started by MiletNZ, Jun 26, 2011.

    Jumping in to a very competitive Niche ( an area I have been involved in for the last 20 Years so will be piece of cake for me :D ) and domain names are hard to come by.

    Will putting my name in to the domain name (lets pretend my niche is Basketball Training) eg. www.MiletsBasketballTraining.com effect my Sites SEO at all?

    Thoughts/Suggestions?

    I suppose that Sitemap can be helpful in terms of SEO - it will help Google to crawl your pages..
    Moreover, links and backlinks are very useful in generating traffic to your web site.

    You name in the Domain Name is not good. But keep your Niche. If your site will popular, you name will be popular.

    We need to know the real niche before suggesting if your real name is good or not.
    In most cases, it wouldn't effect SEO if that's a 3word domain including your name.
    IMO, I do not think real name in domain name and seo has anything to do.

    It will have a positive effect if people are searching for "Milets Basketball Training".

    If you have been actively using/promoting/branding your name for 20 years and established a good reputation in your niche, then you would be mad 'not' to use your name in the domain.

    Just saying.

    Cheers

    When starting off having your own name in the domain will not benefit you much. However if you become successful then your own name could become a brand in itself and then your name will really help

    @Milet
    I will advice you to use your location like your country, area etc rather then using your name. It will help you in long run may help people who are searching for basketall training for a specific area.
    Just my personal opinion.

    i think unless your own name carries a premium or reputation in your field, adding your real name in domain name may not be that helpful...however if it does then it might make your site reputable and attract some good traffic....
