Hi, I’m currently in the final year of university, studying BSc (Hons) Multimedia Computing and have created an Online Portfolio as part of my Final Year Technology project:

The Online Portfolio Of Safwan Ahmedmia - www.ahmedmia.com

I would appreciate it if you could check it out and let me know what you think. All criticisms are welcome, they will help me evaluate the website and hopefully improve it in the future.

    Thanks,

    Safwan Ahmedmia

Wow, Safwan, what a great site!

Normally, I don't like sites with a lot of graphics like that because they take forever to load. Your site loaded quickly and flawlessly.

The graphics didn't detract from the overall message, and the animations are fantastic.

I also like the fact that you give users an option for a different menu on the animations page.

Looks like you'll do quite well in your chosen field.

    Keep up the great work.

    Terry

    very nice work safwan!
I think it's fabulous for a first portfolio
I used to specialize in flash too so it holds a soft spot in my heart
I especially love your skeleton masking, I love that effect

the one thing a lot of flash developers do (especially when they're first making a porfolio)
is to add tons and tons of neat little do-dads all over the place
simply because they can, to show that they can do it
from a design perspective this is not a good idea
and I don't think your site has WAY too much going on,
it certainly has a lot going on and may be bordering on too much
    but I think it's fine

my suggestion for your second version would be to tone down a little on the "neat" stuff in the actual porfolio - go for clean and streamlined
then the user can dynamically load shorter, smaller "neat" things at their convenience to see all the neat stuff you can do!

    good luck!

The portfolio is pretty profressional! However, I think the design is a bit too clean, you need some graphics in the homepage to make it stand out a bit.

    Looks great!

But do you need the splash page? Why not just go directly to the flash?

Splash/welcome pages are outdated... especially the ones that only say "Enter".

I like your website but it takes a while to get from one thing to another with all your snazzy exploding effects and everything

Not bad, i'm not a fan of the border, animation is nice, sound is ok, also it has a bit too much whitespace ( along with the light blue/gray colour scheme ). Good Job though.

    Regards,

Thanks for all your comments, your feedback is most appreciated.

I have now become fully aware of the overall irritating fact of returning to the homepage, lol. I was looking for the best way of loading the other pages into just one, and went for the easy option. But not to worry, Version 2.0 will definitely have a consistent navigation menu, i'll probly have a main movie with the menu (which stays there) and load all the other pages into that.

Thanks once again to everyone who has responded, please do keep your comments coming, they're very helpful.
