My newbie questions

I just uploaded the network onto my site but I’ve only put the network on one page because I’m not too sure about what I’m doing and I want to get a couple things clear before I put it on all of my pages. Here are my newbie questions.

    1) I did what the install instructions said and created the two files. I uploaded the two files to my root folder. I then installed the code on the page that I wanted the network to appear. I got this error: “Warning: open_basedir restriction in effect. File is in wrong directory” So I then put the two files in the folder that the webpage was located in. That fixed the problem but I’m guessing that when I try to put the network on a page that is not located in the same folder as that first page it will create a problem. Any ideas how I can put the two files in my root folder so that all pages will function without getting that error?

    2) In “Edit Account Settings” it asks for my “Site/Forum URL”. I put my site’s index URL and tried to validate it and it said “Site failed automatic validation…” so I then put in the URL of the page that the network is on and it validated. Do I have to validate every page that I put the network on?

    3) Under “My Pool Of Advertisements” I have 5 adds. Each one has a “Weight” dropdown box with 1 to 5. What does this represent?

    4) I have 80 pages that I can put the network on that have a PR3. I don’t think I’m gonna get a big “weight”. Is this even worth the time for me?

    Thanks, Russell

    1) In the code you put on the pages, do the full server path to the ad_network file. /usr/home/site.com/html/ etc.

    2) Put your main url http://site.com or http://www.site.com in when you get all the pages done. Then validate.

    3) 5 will get the most ads, 1 would get the least amount of ads.

    4) I think so, it is an easy way to increase links into your site. Probably will take less time then if you submitted your site in many places and hope to get the link accepted.

    1) That worked :)

    2) still not able to validate. Do you have to add the network to your index page? I'd rather not, I'd like to keep it clean. Do you just have to show a page with the network on it? Just to prove that your showing the network? If that's the case I'll just put in one of my internal pages to validate.

    Thanks for the help!

You have to put it on every page.
