My Newbie Foolishness... I decided to start earning money from adsense two weeks ago. Since then, I've been learning adsense and many more things related to the subject. Now let me make it clear - I have no option to buy domains freely, so as a newbie, I bought a domain using some other person, with his paypal account. I bought a nice domain and started working on a website. So... whats the topic?... Well, I decided to open a website about renewable energy resources, just because it's a subject that goes well in the world, and I thought to open a site about that since there are not many websites focused on that topic, so I'll have lots of visitors, right? well, I don't have lots of knowledge about renewable enrgy, so now, after realizing that I really don't know what to do with the domain, I decided it will be best to continue building a site about it, but I don't know what to do with it! Since it's a site I build for the revenue, I'd like to ask you, internet marketers, what to do? Did I choose a good topic? Give me motivation, Ron(;
Forgot to say: I'd like to know is it good to add free articles to my site, since there aren't many sites on this topic, but many free articles, will it be good to add free articles?
Always choose a topic where you think you can get great content and also you must have knowledge of that topic! other wise it is useless!
This is like grandma would be teaching you how to use garmin. If you surf on the internet you surf for valuable information, right? Valuable information is obtained form people who have great knowledge on that particular topic. That is all what the internet is about. So, the best way to do now, after realizing you don't know anything about your business is to teach yourself on the way while you are studying books and articles on renewable energy.
Just do research. I couldn't care less about most of the topics I write about. I do it because the keywords pay well and have traffic.
A small research will be good. I will suggest you to make a blog with wordpress and write your own articles. You can take some web help on this as you said you have a little knowledge in this niche.
You may wander around looking for a different reply as much as you like, but if you want longterm success, you will have to work for it. Otherwise you are like a bubble, who will get carried away by the next wind. Maybe it will run for a short period of time, but it won't last. On the contrary, you may as well post or do anything you wish, but don't be surprised if you have little or no success at all. I wish you all the success you want, but it won't come out of air.
So what do you suggest me: A dynamic site, with news and forums and all that, or a wordpress blog? I googled a bit, and found renewable energy is a great niche. I don't have problems with knowing the topic and writing about it. I have time to maintain a dynamic site so it won't be to much effort. In fact, I think I'll go for a site without forum but with articles and news, and later I'll add a forum, when I'll be more knowledgeable... what do you think about it?
Building good and unique content is the most important factor, whether you choose a blog or a dynamic website. You are looking for targeted traffic and this comes mostly from search engines who are interested in your topic. A search engine is like a librarian. You tell him what you like and he will suggest you books which might be appropriate. Google is todays librarian and if your website has content he will display your page. That is google's job and the developers will always stick to this fundamental rule. Any black hat seo technique might be filtered out in the future, but building good and unique content won't, as it is preliminary to any search engines existance. If internet surfers like your website they will link to you and increase your pagerank. A little submission to webdirectories and social bookmarks will do a good job too, but don't overdo it. Steps are pretty simple: 1. Content 2. Traffic 3. Money

But what do you think about XOOPS CMS? I'm really good at configuring it and If I'll do it some SEO, I'll have the same results...
