You should focus on fixing the web design, hire someone and get the job done. You will lose a lot of visitors if you don't fix it.
thank for all comments guys! really appreciated, website is not finished yet and i will be constantly updating. I am just doing it 1 job at a time as i can afford it I im writing all these tips down and most will go into the ideas for the site. Thanks again guys
That header is terrible (overall design is not good). Needs serious SEO work Font is too small on the articles Too many categories I would ask my designer for my money back and spend it on a good joomla or wp theme
Hi, Your code has 31 errors in it and 16 warnings which is not a great start. I would also work on the design as stated in previous comments. Your on page SEO needs a lot of work too. Look more into your keyword density, h1, h2 & h3 tags, improve your page title. There is lots more that you will need to consider but without knowing what you want to achieve I will not be able to give you too much more advice. Please feel free to message me what you are trying to achieve and I will give you some more advice.
He wasnt kidding about the professionals: http://www.hellfiremarketing.co.uk/ Those guys made it. Link was in his footer. The site is good, but the design is not professional mate. How much did you pay, if I may ask? I would seek a refund. Check the websites of every person in this topic in the links in their sig, and it will be professional.
well i didnt pay anything (except hosting) my website was a "freebie" for them to show on there website, so im not complaining. Also remember (i did say) the website is not finished there is still work being done on it. i dont think it has even been submitted to search engines yet. alot of people have mentioned keywords, what keywords should i use? also could you explain in more detail what seo work i need? sorry for not understanding but i am still a major noob, and learning all this. thanks
Actually for a noob as you say (I've been doing this since 2007 and still consider myself one), it's very good. I wish one of my earlier sites was even a quarter of yours. I will PM you some helpful stuff.
Here's a few quick suggestions for what looks like a very thorough site. 1. Your heading tabs, starting with Home, Forum, etc. should contain the tab Varieties, under which you can put the headings you currently have-Finches, Quail, Parrots and Other-as sub-categories UNDER the tab Varieties. This will lessen the amount of tab headings you have by 3, which is a good thing. There are currently too many tabs. 2. I might also put the tab headings About Us, Contact Us and Terms, at the bottom of your main page and each page of your site, centered, just as links. This will make only 7 heading tabs at the top of your page. A big improvement. 3. Your text heading, "Welcome to BreedingBirds.co.uk" as well as the text itself should be left-justified, not centered text. Also, the text heading should not be underlined. That implies a link. And in this instance, the underline is not necessary. The heading is already larger than the content text, and in bold. That is sufficient. 4. Your big buttons Forum, Shop and Blog should be eliminated as they are already tab headings. If you like, since you are reducing the number of tab headings to 7, you can increase the size of them somewhat significantly. I believe this will look much nicer on your page. 5. A very quick glance at some of your other pages shows all of your content text is centered, and should be left-justified. Hope this helps!
