http://calendar.cstart.net/ Please take a look at my new site and tell me what you think. I'm especially interested in your opinion about the calendars. Is it something that could be useful to you? It's not completely finished yet, I still need to add some more pictures and quotes. Site home page layout is somewhat inspired by Critter's site. Right now it's on a subdomain, but I may give it its own domain if people think it's useful.
okay, so far so good, but what you cold do is add the week nr on thecalander when it is done, change so that you can have an whole backgound pic over the whole calander, not only a small pic, the layout of the site is nice and clean, easy to understand.... maybe not that usefull, but I am sure that some ppl would use it, maybe a function where you can upload/use your own pics... would be good birthday presents maybe...
Great idea, where was a site like this when I needed it in 1998?!?! I would offer the option of no image or let the user upload and use one of their own. Possibly allow users to upload and contribute to the image db. Then have visitors vote on their favorite contributions. You'd draw more visitors if people could post their photos they are proud of. Obviously put in a disclaimer that by posting you release all rights blah blah blah... I did try to create one and it seemed to lock up and hang, so I closed it without seeing the final output. It may have just been my short attention span tho, but maybe..., hey a shiny metal object...
Concept seems good. Anyway it would be better if you would allow users to use their own image for the calendar (just an idea). That would be particularly good for "photoshop-enemy" users.
Where was this last week when I was battling Microsoft Publisher! Very cool! Would like my own image but as a v1 release you've done well. Congrats!
Thanks for the comments everyone! Looks like an 'upload your own image' feature will be at the top of the to-do list . Starmonkey: what browser were you using? Anyone here using Firefox and having problems with it?
ok thanks, it's probably just Starmonkey then , btw forgot to mention on the site that you need to have Acrobat Reader installed .
Needs a little work with the colors but cool site. Also would ad some bikini babes to the picture section.
Used Firefox -- no probblem. At first I was sceptical about the concept but when I saw the clean results, I really liked the project Wishlist: 1) Image upload (as others suggested) 2) An option to include 2-3 lines within day cells on the monthly calendar. This way you can fill in your tasks for the day and it looks a bit cleaner as each task is on its own line. see what I mean?
I will definitely add some more pictures. Psychotomus: I've thought about having a bigger picture, but I didn't think a lot of people would want to waste that much ink on a 'disposable' calendar sheet .
I've just bought a domain name for the site: http://www.eprintable.com Devbistro, thanks for your comments Image upload is being worked on. The lines in the cells is a nice idea, I may add that in a future version.
Like someone said being able to personalize it by adding notations to the dates would be ideal. Shannon
Btw, you don't have a whole lot of content on the main page. Hope you are planning to add some intros, describe benefits, etc. We, visitors, like to be welcomed
Smyrl: I may add that in a future version. The next version, which will be published soon, will have an image upload feature and a few other tweaks. I will probably leave that on for a few weeks and spend some more time to promote the site. Devbistro: Yeah you're right, I should really add some more content on the main page. Completely forgot about adding a welcome message .
I've just added the image upload feature and made a few little changes. However there are some limitations to the image upload: - only jpg files supported - image needs to have a specific aspect ratio otherwise they are stretched - the last uploaded image is often not displayed without a refresh. - image is deleted after a calendar is created. so if you press the button a second time all you'll see is a blank space. The link builder I hired has gone wild with the button linking on the main page. Obviously that looks unprofessional and can't be good for the se rankings, but I'm getting more traffic from the linked sites than I could ever get from the search engines anyway, so I'll leave the buttons there for now .
