Sorry for dumb questions, but if the toolbar PR is outdated, how can you tell the current PR? Or can only Google tell? Anita
Ok, so many different opinions on this, even within this thread. Lots of people saying PR 5 is very good to have, but don't really say WHY it's so good. This is how I understand it, PR is just a representation of incoming links and the quality of those incoming links that Google determine. Someone said PR will help you in "searchengines"? I don't believe anyone else other than Google does anything with PR, so as far as helping in search engines, I don't think that really fits the case. I suppose theoretically, if you have a high page rank, you have some good sites linking to you and that will lead to high traffic and better targeted traffic, but I believe it's only representative. Of course if you do searches in Google, depending on the search, you'll see many sites with a lower PR having a higher SERP rank than those with a high PR. This makes sense logically, since PR has no idea what you are searching for. If I have a PR 9 site where the focus is fireman, and I do a search on policeman, well of course PR 1 and PR 2 sites will place higher than my PR 9 fireman site. So if your concern is SERP, than there are many other factors more important and worth focusing on rather than PR. Anyone of course more knowledgeable please correct me if I got anything wrong.
Gaining PR is obviously better than not. I'm not sure if it'll help you any as far as the search engines go but it will definately help you sell some links if that's what you're in to.
This `My new site just got a PR 5 - is this good?' thread has given me a great idea. Next time I want to advertise or promote something I'll put a big sign on it that innocently asks `Is this a good deal?' What a great marketing strategy! I won't be trying to advertise or promote my product. Instead, I'll be puzzled. I'll be asking for your help, I'll just want to know if it's a good deal.
Hi! Yes, this is a good thing! My own site ( http://www.freewaywebhost.com ) went from PR0 on December 10th (when it launched!) to PR5 with this latest update - that's just one and a half months' time!
yea even my site is just 1 month old and ive got PR 5 man....starting i thought it was a fake PR but later on came to know i got the PR by the quality of my post.....(www.spicyrumours.com)
cool.....ur lucky to get a PR 5. Well ppl. may say that its worthless...however I have made pretty some money exchanging links for a fee or for free. It just makes life a little bit easy
I'm sorry, but does anyone know why I received a red infraction for this post? I originally posted it in the Google group, and someone gave me a red infraction saying it was in the wrong group and it was moved to: Digital Point Forums > The Digital Point > Reviews > SEO Why? That group seems completely unrelated ... but maybe I haven't been around long enough to know the groups. I'm not trying to complain, I'm just wondering why this happened so I don't screw up again. Thanks, Anita
pr is useless unless your are selling link or exchanging link to others. It won't affect your SEPR(keyword's position on search engine, which is much more valuable than pr) and traffic. you can find current PR @ http://www.digpagerank.com/
PR is a representation of your backlinks and authority If you have a good PR, you will have good SERP if you used the right anchor text They are not the same, but they go hand in hand
if you constantly build deep link, your homepage PR can be low like PR3 but you are popping in SEPR 10 unrelated high pr link can boost your pr, but not much for SEPR.
The page which the links point to will get the PR, so if you build deep links, it will go to the page which is linked, not the homepage Of course there are many factors regarding backlinks which determine the SERP, PageRank being only 1 of them
eTime - what type of site do you have? I'd really only consider selling links for relavent sites (e.g. humor).
