My NES Chronogaming Site

jugglechainsaws.com is a site that I've created to record my attempt to play every NES game released in the United States in roughly chronological order.

I used gray, white, black, and red for the colors because those are the colors on the NES. I know it's not the most exciting thing in the world, but it fits the subject rather well.

I know the logo at the top needs work. Probably going to start from scratch for that.

I went with a magazine style layout because I wanted people to get a quick view of the latest posts. One thing I don't like about it is that I don't think it's obvious enough that if the visitor clicks the image or post title that they'll go t the real post. I'm looking to see if it's possible to continue using the WordPress excerpt feature and still have something like the Read More link.

I'd really love to hear any thoughts people have. Good things are great, but I'd love it even more if you let me know about things I can improve. Seriously, rip the thing apart.

Very nice, looks professional and clean, i agree about the logo, particularly the ropey reflected part, ditch that it will be fine. Good domain name too.

NES seems that its too narrow of a niche

So I should abandon the whole idea of playing everything in order and writing about it because it's a narrow niche? I should join the millions of other general gaming sites out there? If I was doing NES news that would make sense. But I'm playing everything and writing about it. I'm considering moving on to the SNES when I get there, but I'm still a few years worth of games away from that.

I want visitors, but I'm not looking to get rich from this or anything.

Alright, new logo and the featured post up top on the home page is displayed a little differently now.

I agree, sticking with this niche is good. You don't want to be just another gaming website. I like the idea too, very clever.

As you said, logo needs work. You may also want to let the reader know what the site is about right away. I know it explains everything in the sidebar, but I would make a tagline in the header that briefly explains your quest to play every NES game in chronological order.

Magazine style is good, but when I scroll down everything sort of runs together. I might suggest having one post per line for a few, then going into having three. I would also nix the tagcloud.

    Anyway, awesome site, great idea.

Aside from some clutter at the bottom, I thought this was a great site. The page seemed full (eye candy). Sometimes you can get by on this alone.
