My name has 5 parts. First 4 parts of the name are 100% correct on the check But they have messed up with the fifth. Its "Prem" on the check which should be "Premarathna". The name in my Adsense account appears correct. What should I do . Should I go to the bank with this stupid check from a Giant Corp?
Went to bank and they accepted the check (I think they didnt notice it). Fingers crossed. Hope it wont bounce back. Thanks for your replyes. It will take 21 days to cash it
You can always declare that check belongs to you. Ask the bank for the form, you just need to fill it up and declare it. They will credit the amount to your account.
My suggestion will be to open a new account with the exact name in the adsense check , And as the name is almost the same as your original name I guess bank should allow you to open such an account ; then cach out the check from that account.
Officially, only first name and last name is considered..... so make sure that first name and last name used correctly.
Seems my efforts will go into waste. Lets see what happens. This is great, I pay for something that I have already earned. I should have applied for a reissue in the first place
There is no reason to change the name on the account. It appears 100% correct. Seems I have to ask for a reissue
Do not worry. Check is usually cleared in 2-3 days. You will soon see what happens. I am sure it will be cleared without any problem.
Banks don't actually look at the name on the check. The important information is the Routing and Account numbers on the check (Branch and Account numbers). When you put a check in, it is collected at the end of the day with all the other checks from all the other branchs and the account numbers are read electronically (Magnetic Ink). Banks have to deal with thouands of checks every day and they can't do it by hand. The check is then returned to the issuing bank (for Adsense I guess that is in America) who then check to make sure there is enough money in the senders account to pay the check. (This last part can be done electronically, but that depends on your bank). They then tell your bank it's OK to pay you your money. Thats why it takes so long to clear a check. Very inefficient!
