My name is Matt - I am a coder

I am one of those hard core coders. I started writing software at 14 or so, using a "Sinclair ZX81", which was a kit computer you had to assemble and was sold out of OMNI magazine in the late 1970s. It had 2k of ram.

Now I am a multi certified developer (Java, .NET, etc.), and own my own company doing software development for various clients. I enjoy working for myself so much more than working in a cube farm like before.

I was born and raised in the USA, but about 5 years ago I moved to the Philippines to build my own software system. I couldnt afford to stop doing "hired gun consulting" to build my own system and live in the States, especially with a now x-wife trying to keep up with the Jones.

It has worked out well and I now only doing consulting work that is based on my software system which is a C# application framework. It has grown to become a CMS, Forum, ecommerce, and more type platform that can run as ASP.NET web site or a windows form application.

I love living in the Philippines and it costs me about 1/4th the amount to live here as it did in Georgia USA and yet I have a better standard of living. Here I have a nice 3 bedroom 3 bathroom townhouse type place I rent for the equal of $350 a month, where in Atlanta that would be about $1500. I have a live in house maid who works for $40 a month + food, shelter, etc. My Filipina wife is wonderful and we now have a son together.
