My mum've uncovered my snake

I've kept a snake for a couple of weeks.
It's small and pretty. I hide it in my room. Yesterday I was out and my mum tidied my room. I just saw my snake was placed on the table and my mum glared at me after I came home. My mom intended to hit me but my pa stopped her. The thing upset me the most is they lighted the fire and burnt my snake.

Is it really weird and creepy to have snake as pet?

nah, the creepy thing is that they burnt it. Why do your parents hate snakes so much? I mean, I can understand a fear of snakes, but burning it just...wtf...

Many people keep snake as pet in usa. Few guys keep snake as pet (not to make a show in public) in India also. It is dangerous to keep venomous snake. I also suggest not to be found of snakes as your parents says.

You can have a snake as apet, but hiding it will only cause problems. Follow the pro's advice to make sure that your pet stays healthy and that you and your family members are safe.

It is a bit cruel to burn the snake, but you need to find out what is the species, some can be extremely venomous while others is harmless and can be kept as pets. Though I would recommend that they be released where you found it. That is if it is a native creature, if not return to the pet shop.

I had a python when I was in the army, that was a real troublesome snake and grew too fast for my liking. Anyway my friend accidentally stepped on its mouth and it lost its appetite and died.

Thank God, the snake didn't bite you (don't know whether it is venomous or not, btw).
But burning the snake is a cruel act; they are a part of food chain provided when they are in their natural habitat.

To have Pet like a Snake? Naah...im afraid of those....For me its not safe to have that at home esp. hiding that in your room. You never knw what wil happen if you're taking care a Pet that will lead your family into a danger zone.

    Thats my opinion..
    Danke

Its definitely not harmful if the snake is not poisonous and everybody else in the house is aware of its presence....

But your parents burning it off..is just too cruel.

Its very sad to burn a snake.
Usually snakes wont hurt us unless if they are being disturbed or hurt.

Also please don't arrest and keep any creatures unless you can't keep them safe.

Seems like you don't get what he's saying, huh?

orlando2008, you are to blame. First, why keep a pet snake if it probably isn't even legal/safe? Secondly, it's just wrong to burn the snake - if it had been a dog or a cat or a hamster, I guess it would invite more response from the community, huh?

Well the Chinese did eat snakes and love them especially the Cantonese. I think they cooked it in soup and is said to be body warming especially for winter.
