My website traffic had been growing nicely over the last year, getting up to about 3000 uniques per day. Suddenly on January 19 this year it doubled for a day (for no reason I could see), then dropped to a fraction of what it had previously been, perhaps 33% of normal traffic. All my income dropped, and I got really annoyed. I almost gave up on AdSense, and I started a different website to do some affiliate stuff on instead. I was getting practically no hits on good quality content that I'd spent ages writing. It was really frustrating. For a month I was almost without Google, and I had very little traffic. I made no changes to my website. Then I heard about Google's quality score for Adwords landing pages, so I added some Privacy Policy, "contact us", "about us" pages, taking about 5 minutes work in total. I don't actually use AdWords on this site, but I thought I might try, so I added the pages. A couple of days later my traffic came back, after almost exactly a month, and yesterday I got my best AdSense day ever and some affiliate sales. For the last few days since then, my traffice has been back to where it was before, or better. So, was it the addition of the three pages, or was it a month-long Google weirdness? Any body else had a similar experience?
I feel your pain my friend, mysite has been gone for 2-3 weeks now too. It has nothing to do with adsense as I don't use adsense at all on mine. My site still hasn't come back although I think its starting to make a comeback. Wish me luck
I heard about de-index and re-index from other forum but i am sure what wrong with it then I saw this post so it might be something about google mystery
Just to clarify, I wasn't de-indexed. My site was still in Google, but pages that had ranked really well before (e.g. 1st or in top 20) had suddenly dropped to page 200 or something. Suddenly they all came back.
Have you checked your referrer sites? Maybe there was one major traffic contributor which was down momentarily.
It seems, that your pages fall to Google's "Supplemental Pages", and then come back to "Normal Pages". Maybe someone has made a duplicate site of yours ?
75% of my traffic is from Google organics. I tested my old keywords that had been on first page in google for a few months, and they had all dropped many many pages. I didn't find any duplicate of my site, but if someone did do this, then presumably I would have found their page when searching for "my" keywords, and also, why did they remove their duplicate version after one month? I think I got a penalty from google, and then later it got removed, but I don't know why.
