The monitor to the computer in my room has finally burned out and I'd like to know of a temporary (but cheapest) way to get online. I don't want to by a new monitor because my computer is too old anyway. What's the cheapest device to browse the internet with?
I can buy a second hand 15" CRT for about 15$ in my country... are you that poor to not afford a monitor ? Even a new one is really cheap, for something you can use for years : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824002003R ..60 $
Refurbished Flat Screen CRT's cost nothing.. check eBay. Did you have the letters DP fried into the screen?
yeah, but you see guys, i really wantt to temporarily replace my whole computer too. it's very old. so i'm thinking the technology for getting online (since the late 90's) has hopefully gotten less expensive not to mention more portable. i like blackberries but don't want the mobile bill. something small that I could hook up to broadband or even dial up would be perfect.
If I were on the cheap I'd be getting an AMD Sempron Desktop. It would get the job done for work purposes and there very affordable.
When my monitor broke on my old PC I just got a cheap second hand one for a fiver, as I was getting a new computer anyway.
Seriously, garbage at the side of the road. The last monitor I actually paid money for was a 14" VGA piece of crap, years ago, and even that was second hand. My house is currently filled with some really nice brand name 17" monitors, all picked up on garbage night. When one blows up, or someone floods the house and water ends up dripping on it (lost a really nice NEC that way) I don't get pissed, I just grab another from the pile and away we go.. For a while I was upgrading my computers that way too, but it seemed as more time went by, the wealthy people in my area were throwing out not newer, but OLDER crap... like the guy I picked up a nice P2 one year from, the next year there was another machine on his lawn, I figured hmm hey we might be movin up here, only to get it home and find out it's a 133MHz IBM 6x86.
