Hello. I use my computer during all the day and my LG 23MP57VQ-P 23" IPS feels horrible to my eyes, even keeping a reasonable distance. It's impossible for me to get good readability without hurting my eyes. I look for a good monitor for serious work at web development, my budget is ~ 1000€. Please can you give me some advice? I don't use it for gaming, only to browse the web.
A while back I figured out if I sit above the monitor / computer / laptop it'd be easier on my eyes. Didn't do any research or read articles on any of that, just thought it made sense to do it that way. Sure enough, it's actually what they all recommend now.
I have tested it and it's a great idea, big thanks. Anyway I'll leave this monitor for occasional gaming, using my good ole' Thinkpad T61 for work again.
By the way you can also do eye exercises. I do them (not necessarily exactly how they show it on that website) once every month or so. I think it helps (or maybe I have convinced myself that it does). I am 48 and my vision is almost 20/20. Which leads me to believe that some of those exercises do work. http://www.artofliving.org/us-en/yoga/health-and-wellness/yoga-eyes
Using a small monitor like 17" is better than a wide monitor because it doesn't release so much radiation. I find that a wide monitor that is not changed for more than 2 years can release some kinds of radiation that affect the bone of your face and the areas that your monitor face like the chest. So, you should change your monitor every 2 years and not wait until 5 years to change a new one.
