It's hard to tell with the small amount information you have given. If your site is new, then it's normal for it to bounce around. Just keep getting links.

5-85 is not normal fluctuation. It could be a Google penalty(-5 -30 -950 etc..), but that would not come back to normal within a day or two. I assume its sue to some datacenter issues and should be cleared soon. Have patience, if the matter remains then you may need to take some steps.

P.S. What exactly do you mean by 'jumps between 5-85'?

It could just be a ranking fluctuation. I have experienced the same thing. I had a site that appeared in the top 10, but suddenly couldn't be found in the top 100. I just kept on building quality links for it and got my ranking back eventually.

For a keyword if your conducting SEO prartices well that is good. But remember you are just a fish in the sea. Check your other competitors. If your targeting 2nd page there would be thousands trying for the 1st page. I wouldnt say its penalisation.

hmm i have also heard Google dance as myth. Who knows Google dance? :)

    Regards
