I have developed a nice userbase thats growing on my blog from doing hard work, writing original content, making artwork for pr etc and my main competitor keeps ripping it off. I wrote a 1000 word article. Someone on his forum posts a link to my article. The next day he pastes my whole article into his forum and keeps the link all the way at the bottom. I spent alot of time creating wallapapers and posted them to the facebook forum of the product. In the same thread he posts "hey we have wallpapers too at my site". His wallpaper was a 1 logo blown up. He joins my facebook group and posts his link to his website straight on my wall. Tags my facebook group in his photos which say his url. I could give so many more examples. Is this frowned upon? Is it the norm and i just have to live with it? Thanks
You can easily delete his Posts from your wall by clicking on the "X" in the upper right corner to delete his post. You can also go to the Account menu in the upper right corner of Facebook, choose "Privacy Settings" and then put his ID on your Block list. If you are in the USA, you can send him a reminder that your blog is "copyrighted" and he cannot use your articles without your permission. It's called a "cease and desist" letter.
Yes, you could try the cease and desist thing, this sometimes works, otherwise report it to Google immediately, giving as much detail as you can, but make sure your facts are completely true and correct.
I deleted his posts straight away and untagged myself from his pictures. I didn't want to have to block him from my facebook or blog but i think i will. I am gonna email him first before i think about the Cease and desist stuff. Thanks for your input
No, you don't. Go here: http://www.dmca.com/Default.aspx and submit a complaint. After that, do a WHOIS check on your competitor and submit a complaint with his host. They do, sometimes. But if you persevere with repeated follow ups, they will eventually act.
Disabling right click may also hurt my chances of normal bloggers taking portions of my content for thier site and linking back. I sent the guy a nice email and he has not replied yet. Might get interesting.
