My localhost > 301 Moved Permanently ??

    Suddenly my Vista/apache system is redirecting localhost and 127.0.0.1 to google.com!

    Firefox (firebug) tells me that GET localhost returns "301 Moved Permanently" and I'm redirected to www.google.com

    Notes:
    I can ping localhost and 127.0.0.1.
    There is no html file, .htaccess or anything that would redirect it.
    httpd.conf has not changed.
    apache access and error log files show no anomalies

    What I've tried:
    I deleted the ::1 (ipv6?) from ..etc/hosts.
    I tried disabling ipv6 on my ethernet adapter.
    I made apache listen on other ports (like localhost:81)
    Installed the latest apache version.
    Lots of rebooting, hair pulling

    I'd really love to get back to work, thanks in advance for any advice!

    Solved!

    I searched the hard drive for new/modified files after the last known working date.

    Somehow an .htaccess file with 301 redirect to google.com had appeared in my c:\ . which affected my web dev folder.
