recently started a new website (a .com website with the main keyword in the domain name) I created about 8 pages of content and then went on to promote the site using the following platforms: Hubpages, squidoo, blogspot, wordpress and zimbio Each of the properties listed above included the keywords or had the exact keyword match in the url. They all linked back to my main site. What happened is this: each and every one ranks on the first page in bing.com and some even above my main site. Thats without doing any sort of link building for these pages. Offcourse they are nowhere to be seen in google (yet) but still it does bring some traffic. This is for a term with 20.000++ searches amonth. My question is: is it really this simple? Would I be able to succesfully do this for other terms as well? would it help me even further if I xrumer blasted the link sites or did any sort of promotion for them in general?
From what I've read, your not building a link-wheel, you should learn about building link wheels, it's pretty much the same as you've got now, but you then inter-link all of your web 2.0 properties in order to maximize the ranking/traffic etc. You can easily rank highly for your keywords if you understand and optimize link wheels.
The problem if you can call it a problem at all is that my secondary sites (blogspot, squidoo etc) ranks higher than my main site. That just doesnt make any sense to me. I mean the main site has incomming links from all these pages while the pages themselves have no links comming in.
it's because your website is still new, lack of authorities, while the supported sites (pages) are from high authority sites. Keep build your links and your main site rank will increase. It requires sometimes though. the good news is, you can actually dominate the whole page 1 serps, right?
I agree with all said here. In answer to your question about is it really that simple. No is the answer. It depends on what keywords you would go after. For example, what you have done for something like "car insurance" would be very difficult. But as you've done a little research knowing that the term with 20k+ searches worked - there may be a line there of where it really starts to get competitive. But keep it up, do some more trial and error and see what happens.
Hi as an update I can say that I got pr2 to a 3month old website just from a xrumer blast. as far as I can tell google hasnt slapped me for doing it so my question is, should I just xrumer blast all the web 2.0 properties I have pointing at the main site..?? that way I should get more PR juice flowing to the main site and also improve PR and maybe rankings for the web 2.0 pages? any risk involved in doing this?
