Hello, As far as I'm aware, this idea is fairly original - I know google has its own beta version. I decided to create a search engine for blogs, and although it's not completely finished, I'd be grateful for any suggestions, reviews or just what you think of it so far I expect there will be bugs. www.blogoosearch.com Thanks!
What's the function? How does it work? Do you have your own robots that will crawl all blogs automatically? The search box on the top is too big, the letter that inputed is too big too. It's not convenient for long words searches.
If you look around, you'd answer some of your questions. It does not use a spider - although I could create software to do this - it relies on users to submit their blogs, which I prefer. Why would someone looking for a particular blog, or blogs, want to initiate a long search? It's not google.
Yeah, you are correct. It's not google. But first you should let others know your website. When your site becomes well known, the visitors will submit their blogs. I think if you can have two functions, spider and submission, it will be much better.
Well that's what I hope for mate. I posted it here for some quick feedback on its current phase. The problem with using a spider to add blogs is that it's very difficult for a script to capture screenshots.
I have another question. Why the visitor would like to use your site to search blogs, why don't they use google? I think google will be the first choice when someone wants to search. How do you rank blogs in your database when search the same keyword?
It goes without saying that google is the top priority, but that doesn't mean much. Look at all the other markets - all have big players, and many of them. People still use yahoo, msn, ask and others, right? Blogs are ranked by relevancy though keywords and then by age - in order to allow newer blogs to get viewing time.
Yeah, not all will choose google, but most will. Right? I think your mechanism for ranking the same keyword is good. Give some opportunities to new blogs. When someone mentions search engine. I just think how complex and difficult it is. You have chosen a large project. A long way to go. Good luck to you! I hope someday your site will become well known.
