Hello ... it was running just fine when WIndows XP was on it. But it was very slow. So i decided to reinstall windows, each time i was insert the windows xp cd, or any linux cd it was shutting down , i don't know why. Even if i was sitting in BIOS to modify something as the password it was shutting down, before like 10 seconds. But if i was starting windows it was running without auto-shutting down ...

what do you think is the problem ?!

I had a problem with a Compaq laptop where the sound quit working. It was under warranty so sent it in. They sent it back with sound working and had updated bios. Then it would boot, and then shut down. I called TS and they said re-install Windows. Didn't work, ended up sending it back and they replaced the whole board. Works fine now. I think it was something that happened when they updated the bios, and it was incompatible or somehing?

The wrong firmware may have been updated in the bios. I had a $20,000 scanner that had the wrong firmware updated and the manufacter sent me the tech software so I could flush the firmware from the main control board. They told me that if that didn't work I would have to replace the main control board which is $5000. Ouch!

In these cases see if your system is overheating otherwise it sounds a memory problem ...
