My Internet Marketing Adventure Starts Today! Aim $500 Per Month

I know I haven't been on here much but I have been sorting out the exact route I am going to take my trip... plus I had exams and a job to write 33 articles in a week for some cash..

But, today I took the day to sort of get down to business.... So i set up a fresh site in about 3 hours to start building a list... I have take Michael's knowledge of building a list first. So, here I go...

My initial plan was to build a website full of content and then start promoting it, getting back links and such to raise the PR, and then start making a list and generating some sales based on the people who subscribe to my site. This was just dragging on too long and I wasn't building up fast...

So, I did some research and found a free ebook in my niche that is 65 pages and targets what my site will be all about, and it even has the resale rights!!! I am using it, giving it out free in order to start building my list. I am going to use adwords to get people to the site for now. It is just a sub-domain of the original site I have already been filling with content.

I am going to start giving newsletters to subscribers and keep building up my content site that will have affiliate products and my ebooks for sale with tons of juicy original articles filled in the site. I won't launch or promote the content site until I have around 75 articles on the site. Once I reach that much, I should have enough information to generate some quality visitors... CONTENT IS KING!! haha....

Plan to do Tonight:
-Write 11 more articles. 9 will be for the "Feature" or "Must Read" section on the sidebar with the most important topics in the niche. Then the other two posts will be general articles.
- Write some newsletters.

I plan to have the total 75 articles done in 1-2 weeks. I am going to work as hard as I can to get them done this week, but quality comes first, so I might need 2 weeks....

I plan to rewrite basic articles, more like "insights" to each of the 75 articles and start submitting them to Ezine, back linking each to my more in-depth articles on my site. Once I have a link to each site, I will write 2 articles for Ezine with back links to my homepage for every 1 article I write back linking to specific pages.

Basically, by the end of the 75 "insights", and then starting the process of 2 ezine articles backlinking to my homepage for every 1 "insight", I should have 2 articles in Ezine back linking to each article on my website, and 150 articles back linking to my homepage, for a total of 225 articles in Ezine!!!

It's going to be fun! Haha. Good thing I like writing...
When do I plan to have this all done by? My goal is to have this all done by May 1st... (2 months from now). That is my desired "deadline" to have it all done by... but, it doesn't mean I can't get it done before that... We'll see.. There sure is enough to do though!


Enough about me!! How's everyone else doing? I like reading everyone's stories!!

 

Thats good stuff mate. I've been doing work in the background and with other things in the way such as my dissertation is kinda holding me back. Yesterday I was setting up my followups withaweber.

Today is the first day where I've done nothing, was planning to do it after watching the final (Tottenham vs Man Utd) we loss so it made the day worse hence probably why I didn't write any articles. I do feel slightly bad about it so will catch up tomorrow with 4 articles. My hand in date for the dissertation is 1st May so sooner or later I'm gonna have to put IM on hold (just for a sec).

I've been testing out many ways to get traffic. Articles writing has been consistent. I've played with stumbleupon but I can't really see a squeeze page being that interesting for it to get lots of stumbles so I stopped, traffic exchanges have been useless, safelist I think works as it's been getting me one or two opt ins everytime I blasted out that email so will still use for now. I made a youtube video but it ony has 43 views probably because its a moviemaker video (blue background) too boring to click?

One thing that I've noticed is my work rate. Yes 2 articles a day is nothing but when you got a dissertation to worry about, a 3 month baby bring upaswell , things get tough. I've accepted that article marketing for now will be the way forward but 2 a day is pants. I need something like 10 per day and it seems that outsourcing is the only option which I'm not ready for. Things are going slow for now as I plan to get into full time work in May which I can then spend on outsourcing those articles.

At times I feel drained. I mean my ezine stats are 514 views and only 99 URL clicks. Looking back I'm sure I don't have a good enough "call to action". This is for the first 13 approved articles. I still have 34 articles where I will l definitely improve the call to action.Adwords has definitely run out now and my list is growing ever so slowly. Since my last update, the list count is only 117 after 23 days.

Things to do tomorrow.

1. Improve my squeeze page with an exit pop up in case anyone decides not to opt in. Might as well have one last chance subscribing them.

2. 4 articles written

The passion is still there despite all this. I WILL get there even if it kills me. I'm going to watch some MasterListBuilder vides on youtube now!

Maybe you did not make any $$$ so far but you sure are good at writing articles: 47 articles in 23 days! Here's an idea for you - become a content writer. I could be your first customer, how much would you charge for an article (250 word and 500 word)?

Another idea: maybe you should submit your articles to more than one article directory. Also you can create a blog with all your articles. It could generate extra leads/income.

Do you mean in movie preview your movie has a bluescreen,instead of an image when browsers are ,well,browsing?
I read somewhere recently,to attract people to click your video-i'll try to explain as simply as possible.
When editing,go to exactly halfway make a stillshot,and place in middle of your video. Evidently if there is a still image in middle of videos,thats what gets displayed in preview/results.(like what you see in video on main page where the video image is still)

Currently,i have a WP theme in development,and 1or 2 ebooks underway. Already got a buyer. Going to be selling a limited number of MRR,before recruiting affiliates.

At least this should be short term cash. I've also managed to set up a demo area on my site designfuschion.com,and got devfresh up with launchpad theme to capture rss subscribers when i do launch devfresh.
I've also written up my product list sales funnel. as well as 2 or 3 outlines of possible ebooks/reports i can use in my sales funnel when i start my list.

I'll create a report,submit articles to ezine(i'll probably do kochanck27's method of 2 ezine articles for every blog article) . I'll create 2months worth of blog posts,ezine content and autoresponder content in advance so i can autopilot this. mainly so i can concentrate on other revenue raising projects,and build the backend products and learn php/code the app.
I came up with a cool web app,which i realised i could work it into my subscriber list. -further building revenue
If i do earn enough writing ebooks,i'll outsource some of the content writing for my blog-just to save time.

 

It seems to me that you have a good plan and working hard to succeed with it, Michael. I hope and believe that you will be successful with this project. I have a plan myself, but I keep re-writing it. As soon as I have a new website up and running, just something basic but none the less my own, it will feel much better as I can start building back links to it.

If you keep pushing yourself forward like you do now, you are surely going to experience a break-through eventually, there's little doubt about it, and reading this thread inspires me, perhaps because I feel like you do every now and then. Thanks for keeping us updated on your progress, and break a leg!

So.... something great is happening! So far since my last message yesterday, I have had 41 new people sign up for my site. Having people sigh up is always a good thing... but how I got it to this many in only around 18 hours kind of shocked me!

It is all adwords traffic signing up to my site. Are adwords sign ups good?

I am sending them each a general email with the ebook welcoming them and giving them their gift. I will soon start giving them a newsletter that will be more like a guide to follow. I hope to start writing an ebook this week (just something sweet for them to get started with) that will be around 20 pages or so. I don't know if I am going to charge for this or not.... I might put a donate button... but, I have never heard of those working to well... If I do charge them.. it won't be much at all. Maybe like a dollar or two. What do you think? Charge or free until further down the road? I will give them a filled newsletter with tons of information, and then have the ebook listed on the side of the newsletter.

Just all thoughts... I was just happy to wake up and see my 42 subscribers! I'll update later on with how many the list grows to.

Hows everyone else doing on this sunny but chilly day? I want it to be warm out!!!

The lack of efficiency in this thread is nearly comical. Writing 2 articles per day won't get you anywhere unless you work for the NY Times.

@Arcanus - Well, the only reason I know they are coming from adwords is because I just started the "new" website where everyone is signing up on last night... I started adwords right away and haven't promoted it anywhere else, so I know it is all from adwords. Maybe I have 1 or 2 stragglers from somewhere else though.

@kochanck27 i personally would hold back from selling straight away. I've left it nearly 2 weeks before I'm making my first sales promo of an affiliate product. If you feel you can get some cash out of it then good luck mate.

@dlm I have people that need me so i cant spend the whole day on the comp. Money is not an option otherwise i'd outsource. 2 articles wont get me anywhere but 2 articles added up will amount to alot. Ok so I managed to get my 4 articles done as I promised yesterday but unfortunately that was the only task I completed. I was still meant to improve my squeeze page and add a OTO (meant to write it down) but got caught up with other things.

It's time for me to step back now from writing articles as I find that this is the most time consuming task of my marketing adventure (I need to get better at it). My dissertation needs my attention now so I will be focusing on that. Saying that my dissertation requires me to write some articles which will be submitted to EZ for marketingpurposes (opt in) but I won't be ready to write them till nearer the time.

Ok so how do I feel these days? Tired, its 3am right now and I've been doing this for the past 2 months going sleep late. I don't get much sleep cause the baby needs feeding every often.

I feel progress is real slow but it's out of my control (EZ, baby, dissertation) when dissertation is out of the way, it will be replaced with (job) damn...BUT THE DREAM IS STILL THERE.

URL CTR is pathetic but I still have another 37 articles to perfect in terms of call to action. List is growing inch by inch.

Well in my 7th follow up this is where I send out an email promoting an ebay product which I purchased back in 2006. This is the first promotion, I hope it goes well.

Does anyone think my business plan is flawed? Money and time is not an option here. The current business model is:

Squeeze page -> Free gift --> Free content for about a week, few days apart, --> Free digital gifts --> Blog post relating to the free gift (btw ebay related) --> First promo of an ebay product.

Well....

It's been awhile since I posted on here. My list grew to about 46 subscribers.

That project kind of went stale after adwords ran out because I didn't have money for a email newsletter program, and I was busy with exams. But, Lately I have been writing articles for my website in my signature, LivingLuxuryLives.com. Its about luxury and tuner cars, where I have just been writing totally unique and general articles for my keywords.

It is totally true what they say! Find your keywords, write quality totally unique content, and you will get to the front page! for a couple of my keywords, it has only been 2 days, yet some articles are up in the top 10 on the first page of Google for the keywords!

And.... they are actually generating organic search traffic. I am recieving steady traffic, so I am going to continue to build this. Once I have about 100 or so posts, I plan to start writing 1 post a day for the website and then pumping out articles for ezine.

Reason for starting over... a third time!!
- I decided to move from something that I was interested in, but knew little about it, to something I knew about and grew up with, which I am pretty knowledgeable about. It is soooo much easier to write, think of ideas, be creative, and generate views with my own writing input! It's fun and it is working.

I have been just writing them, and then submitting the articles to Digg.

So far, I have 7 articles. Not much, but after the next couple days, I should be able to start writing more than 2 articles a day. ( I have more exams and papers in the beginning of this week.)

I'll keep you guys updated on the progress... Tell me what you think.

How is everyone else doing? Hanging in there? Anyone switch techniques?
