This is probably nothing to most of you guys here, but i feel pretty happy today. I checked the stats of my hosting article and review website after adding the website to digg and stumbleupon the other day. A friend told me about digg and stumbleupon but i was quite skeptical about signing up as i wanted to grow my website naturally. Yesterday i had 20 hits from digg and a few from google, yahoo etc gaining me 52 uniques. Today i have checked on the website and have 279 hits from stumbleupon with 217 uniques. I could hardly believe that a website like that would bring me such a big increase in traffic so quickly! Im still skeptical about the quality of traffic and would much rather have it all coming from google and yahoo, but im pretty pleased with that! Anyway, sorry to the pro's here who get more visitors per minute than i do in a day!
trust me, there are plenty here not even seeing such results. If everyone was having success, then there wouldn't be a need for a forum such as this.
Cheers guys! One thing that makes me feel skeptical about the quality of traffic is the fact that im making no money from any of the visitors that reach the website, not even a few clicks! Im not sure if its the ad placement or what, i have had clicks on every other website i have had, however small the traffic!
Social bookmarks are a very good way of getting traffic, though they don't convert that well, but hé: more traffic = more exposure, more mouth to mouth => more revenue stumbleupon has got me from a few 100 till a few 1000 uv's a day a year ago, and it's still rising to over 10000 a day now
If the people who came liked what they saw there is a good chance these will post links in other forums etc so this traffic can be good for link building.

Well at the moment im not sure if its going to be a long time traffic source. I read alot about unique articles and spent alot of money in purchasing articles. I posted them every 2 days but realised most people would not visit the website that often so increased the time i posted the articles. I then did alot of search engine and directory submission but that hasnt really worked. Iv done a few link exchanges and with such little money left and such a large amount of unique content, im not sure how to increase the traffic. Im apposed the posting my articles on other websites to get traffic because i wanted the articles to 100% unique to the website. Am i naive to think that i can just make a website successful because it has unique content? Have i spent my money in the wrong places? Is the competition too great to compete without a huge budget? Im really not sure at the moment so an increase in traffic from anywhere is great!
Congratulations on the successful stumble-spree, as I like to call them. Without doing anything, I get about 200 uniques a month from Stumbleupon. If I decide to promote my site more, I'll get over 1000. Unfortunately, the traffic isn't very good. Most visitors stay for a fraction of a second, and the few who do stay rarely click ads. However, if you promote your site through Stumbleupon to the extreme and use CPM (cost per thousand visitors) ads, you'll make a bit of money even if your visitors don't click. I hardly get any traffic from Stumble. I stopped trying to get stumbles as well as the traffic is no good

free traffic is better then no traffic i get massive traffic from SU and residual traffic after 3-4 days. depending how interesting your article is, more stumbler thumbs up your page the better. tyler
Does StumbleUpon still work? Didn't work for me last time I tried. Though brought 4K visitors about 6 months ago...
hehe. Stumble traffic isn't exactly quality, and usually high bounce rate, unless your content is incredible.
I have also registered stumble upon and submitted my posts, after submitted one of my posts, i got around 250 hits within 4 hours then after that back to none hits from stumble upon.
