I don't know what the heck is going on, but somebody hacked two of my hotmail account. I lost my first hotmail account two years ago, and I've just recently been hacked again with other primary account. I don't know what to do. Can anyone give me some suggestions? Is hotmail really not secure enough or hackers are just too damn good at this?

First thing is to check for spyware or keylogger on computer. I use spybot search and destroy but you can try some others.

I would if you can redo computer from original restore disk that comes with computer. It gets rid of everything on your computer so save anything to a disk you want to put back on the computer.

I do this because i know it gets rid of it for good and make sure to have latest updates for computer right after you redo it.

You have to change your password at hotmail and what other emails you use. Most of the time people who do this have all your info and will check every email.

I would change all passwords even isp log in for your account. Remeber your credit card is listed so is adress.

I know it is a pain but i would restore computer back to original and add what you want and make sure you update any software like windows.

Sorry dude, Its far from "very" clean or you wouldn't be getting hacked ;) What software are you using? Either that are your using really simple and common passwords.

Email hotmails customer support asap , it is a common problem , they undo your password to its original state (the one you know) , then change your password.
Don't click links on msn (It has a xss security weakness that microsoft has not- could not ?- close) , the bad guys take the cookies and make themselves a password reset link).
As security try other spywares but this should be the case.
And as a long term security don't use hotmail mail on msn - Why should you ? It has time limit , low storage - I am using hotmail since 1995 and trying to get rid of it - (if you have to use it) use one of your domains email (set a different password for msn and the mail) in this case anything happens to you just send yourself a password reset.

reset your secret question and use different antivirus and antispyware softwares. not every antispyware can detect every spyware. i use spyware doctor, avg antispyware and spyware terminator.

Well I personally have seen people putting their real information in secret Answer/question (Two of my friends have hacked several accounts due to this Secret Question/Answer), for example if I select question "What is your age" and put my right age, definatly if some one asks me my age on IM or my friend who already knows my age he can easily hack into my account

So keep the answer of question different then true answer another suggestion will be to use Firefox inseted of Internet explorer

I suppose you just got infected by a trojan / keylogger or something similar.
In my opinion it has nothing to do with Hotmail being secure or not.

Hotmail is supposed to be secure for sure, you need to educate yourself to fight against phishing websites, spyware, key loggers etc..

If you have lost your account even with your primary/secondary email account, I beleive that the possibility exists to regain access to your account.

    Goodluck

Thanks to all of your replies. I think I have to watch out for the trojans now I was using McAfee and I guess it didn't detect spyware, I do know I have spyware in my computer before this happened.

I'm totally agree with your suggestions. I was thinking why would hotmail even has that "send yourself a reset option" when somebody trying to gain access to their email.
I'm going to contact microsoft right now. However, One stupid thing I did was that I didn't respect the recovering question, I thought that was stupid because I know I'm not going to forget my password and specially when I registered that email 7 years ago, no one wants to give out any really information on the internet. I total bullshit the whole registration form except username and password.

Alright, firstly SCAN your computer and remove all viruses, spyware etc.
Then when you make a new account, make a DIFFICULT password, with characters such as '@!_\.#
DON'T tell ANYONE (including your friends) your password.

Maybe your using the same password and someone is getting it from somewhere else. Like a site that they can easily exploit.

I've contacted Microsoft, but they say the info I provide doesn't match what they have in store so they're unable to help me. I answered most of their questions, I couldn't remember all of it. Is there any way I can convince them I own the email? They can question me about the emails like show me a mail and ask me who was that from.

Any idea how I can get my email back?
