Thanx for your input. I-h8-scammers, the turned the website into a wordpress blog and as such wont a lot of the content straight from its control userface. I definately wont make the mistake of not backing up again. As for Ishan and googles wayback machine/cache, do you have any direct links to how I could try and retrieve my pages that way? A. Hayes.
How about pointing out to them that they're illegally using the better business bureau logo on their site? Look at the bottom, then click, and try to find it in their list. I think they'll be more willing to give you a refund if you remind them of that (all hypothetical, of course)
Search using cache:domain.com on google, you will get front page. Search using site:domain.com and site:subdomain.domain.com , you will get a list of indexed pages. Under each result you will see link to its cache. You can get almost all pages, as long as the site is well-indexed. http://www.archive.org/web/web.php will be useful only if google has already de-indexed your pages. Ishan
Hi, Ah man, I want to find the owners of Just Host and do somethig illegal. After following your advice and retrieving a couple of pages through google´s "cache" I had attempted to reinstall wordpress. It didnt happen even after deleting the old website files through the cpanel. I contacted them and after about 3 emails of them not understanding what I want, they have no informed me that my whole account has moved to another server and I need to re add my main website and add ons. Hence, my websites and emails are down again! Now the live support has been removed from their website and they arent responding to my emails. What I need to do is transfer my websites/domains to hostmonster but I cant get in touch with Just Host. They need to get what they deserve somehow.
You should definitely read their TOS, many of them credit you for downtime. On top of that someone responded above, you must always read a TOS.
Hi, Well I have requested all the EPP keys to my domains and they have delivered surprisingly enough. In regards to their refunds, it turns out that I only paid $60 to use them and they have paid back $45 ($15 charge for the free domain). Mind you it isnt in my account yet but thats what they say. I will be moving over to Hostmonster shortly. Thanks for the advice. Perhaps my main website needed to be refurbished anyway. A. Hayes.
That’s cool you got most of the money back. If you are running Wordpress you can make back ups easy, with a back up file you can have your site up in less then 20min.
I was warned of this company so long ago, and so glad that I never tried hosting with them. I was totally unaware that they were a reseller, but then again, their website does look strangely similar to a few more that I've come across. Anyhow, I would honestly try to sue the company for damages. They, regardless of their reseller status, entered into a contract with you that required them to provide the said services. If they failed on their part in any way, that contract has been breached (obviously), and you are due what is owed to you (provide documented proof of regular income statements or it will be decided for you). If you lost money because of their negligence, then they should have to pay you for your losses as well. It's good that you got a partial refund, but honestly, I don't feel that's enough.
An ancient thread. I managed to get a partial refund and went for Hostmonster, they havent let me down and definitely worth the move. When I think back, Just host was giving me cr*p almost every second day.
I've been using JustHost.com and haven't had any problems yet, other than dumb chat reps and 10 mins. downtime last month.
Get your backup and transfer your site asap. Write a review of your experience with that particular host and let it be. Its just not worth your time.
In all honesty, there are probably no "leagal" grounds upon which you could ask for a refund, only a moral one. If you say you are dissatisfied with the service they have given, compared with the service they advertised. I my unfortunately biased opinion, I do believe that large hosting companies are the worst choices as the dominate search rankings so can get away with offering less for much more money!
Thats good! I haven't hit the first 30 days yet so I can still get a full refund. If I do, who should I switch to? I have 4 days left...
Just Host is terrible! I also had a very bad experience. My page was getting thousands of uniques an hour, and they simply shut my website down. Without even a warning, I lost thousands of dollars while waiting for a new host to bring up my server. They refused to do anything about it, and I wish there was a way we could spread the bad word.
