Today I got access problems to my blog, I asked my host to look at the database connection and they replied that they had disabled the database because it was using high memory and cpu usage on the server. This is a bit strange because the blog is new and does not get a lot of traffic. They are looking into it but do you guys have any ideas?
Only that you need a new host. If my host disabled anything on my websites there would be hell to pay.
I would have sued them for doing that shit, they have no right to disabled without any notice atleast.
Was it written in the terms and service? how much memory and cpu usage was permitted as per terms of service? Which web hosting provider are you using?
Please do not tell me its Hostgator . Jesus they are steady but they are very not cool with extra stuff that can crash there CPU its good and bad.
My host is Netpivotal, up until now they have been pretty good. I have check my terms and conditions and they can do this. My concerns are why it has happen, the blog is not getting a lot of traffic at the moment. It just seems strange.
I do support for 1 of the most used WordPress theme. There's a probability that the theme can cause this. Is there any chance that it use any JavaScript libraries like prototype, YUI or scriptaculous? Or maybe u using an advanced WP theme.
Zeo is right, it could be a theme issue, it could even be a plugin. I'd advise disabling any plugins and set it to the default theme if it's not already and see if there's a noticeable change.
The problem is, as the the database is disabled now I can't change anything. I am getting permission denied errors. I have ask the hosting company to re-enable it and I now waiting for them to get back to me.
I see that you are using a 'simple' theme. If you don't have any plugin (or you might list what u have), then probably your hosting suck
Have you asked them to confirm exactly what the problem was? Although WP is very inefficient it doesn't do anything that a normal php/mysql script doesn't do.
My host is Netpivotal and it is their home plan that I am using, which I thought was OK for the amount of traffic (or lack of it) that I am getting at the moment.
I would imagine that its shared hosting which means that all the accounts they host use the same mySQL server so it probably not your website thats causing the problem. Get a new host.
