    Hello all,

I've made some extreme changes in my website, installed joomla and stuff. And suddenly i found that my home page is not showing up in google.

Other pages and subdomains are displayed in the search engine results page, But not the home page.

I've logged into the Google Webmaster Tools, Under both "Pages with external links" and "Pages with internal links" the home page is not displayed too.

    What's missing?

type the URL in google and make sure your site hasn't been banned. If it hasn't, submit an xml sitemap to google or have a link placed on another website with a high page rank (4+) Hopefully that will fix the problem.

wait for some time....when ever you make any change in your site it takes time to show in index..don't worry. upgrade your sits map and submit it again.

Google is going through a major update. All of their tools have reduced functionality, including search, webmaster tools, and analytics.

    Things will bounce back soon.

search for your site in Google, then if you can't find it submit a sitemap to Google and wait for some time...

I think you need not to worry much about that. Keep working and wait for few days you home page will be back. It will take hardly 2-3 days max.

A search for site:chankom.org shows your home page is still indexed... A search for "chankom" and "chankom.org" both show your home page in #1 position. You Toolbar PR is still visible... so there are no obvious signs of a penalty.

If you changed URLs, that could drastically affect your rankings... Hopefully if you changed URLs for your pages, you implemented URL-by-URL 301 redirects from the old URLs to the corresponding new URLs whose content most closely matchs that of the old URL. If you didn't then you just lost credit for all inbound links to your old URLs. Even if you DID implement the appropriate redirects for URLs that change, you can plan on taking a dip in your rankings for a couple of months. You have to wait on Google to recrawl every inbound link to those pages, discover the redirect for each inbound, and forward the PR and credit for the link/link text to the new page...

Changing things like <title>, <h1>, <h2>, content of the page, keywords in URLs, etc. can all effect the rankings of your pages.

It will take several crawls of your site before the rankings for your new pages settle down.

Well it's a natural thing. Don't get too concerned. Your homepage will reappear in Google eventually. Just keep on updating your site.

    Hello,

I have faced the same problem which I never faced in my professional life. I started to optimise a Price Comparison web site few months ago for a client. After i month or so the site started to show up on Google SERPS for few keywords and kept on working on the web site and kept monitoring the progress which was good as traffic started to build. Unfortunately last month the site suddenly disappeared from Google SERPS infact not completely disappeared but all results from home page disappeared. On investigation it was confirmed that the home page of the web site has been removed from Google SERPS. the home page is being crawled and indexed by Google but results not appearing for any keyword at all.

The strange thing is that if you type site:www.mysite.com in Google, Google list down all indexed pages of my site including home page on the top. The home page is being indexed by Google periodicall and last cached date is 31st of August. I have been monitoring it but if you try to search the site by typing the domain keyword, it shows inner pages instead of home page.

I am working to resolve the issue and will post here if I am able to diagnose the issue but if will appreciate if any body can help me fix this issue.

    Many thanks.

Type your home page in google. If you get the results, main page has indexed in google. If you not getting, try to index the main page.
