I love my grandmother and a few years ago she got a computer and the internet and has gone wild scanning pictures, making calenders, ect. Sometimes she just does things that makes me chuckle. She had put some stuff online and I was talking to her on the phone and I asked her to send me the link. I gave her my gmail email because I thought it would be the easiest for her to remember. I wait a day and no email so I send her one. Here's her reply, Then she sent another email So I sent her an email back actually listing my email address and telling her she could just reply back with the link, too. Everytime I go to visit she has a slew of computer related how to questions. The good thing is she always gives me pie though while I show her how to do the stuff. Does anyone else have anything like this?
LOL, all the time. Once you are singled out as someone who knows about computers you are instantly put in charge of fixing, instructing, and building pc's for your family, friends and others. I don't mind but man some have no clue at all which does get frustrating. I don't mind the ones who don't have a clue if they try to learn, my father for instance. I recently built him a pc, he's a cheap ass so didn't want to spend a ton of cash. Built him a pc for under $200. Cat tripped a card causing a short and in return fuxxing some things up. I completely redid the system for him again, running fine and smooth. The only problem is now he wants me to setup every single peice of software of which he's done before without a problem. I also have 5 sisters and a brother of which I am all of their personal techies, an uncle and aunt, neices and nephews, my wifes side and of course friends. If only I got paid I'd probally make more money fixing computers than my normal business
Love your grandma and enjoy the pie! ^ true words of wisdom. If my grandma paid me with that special sweet potato pie she used to make I'd build her a state of the art Windows 2003 server cluster with a custom load balancing scheme RAID enabled!
Thats nothing compared to my grandads friend. I took me 2 weeks just to teach him how to use a mouse. I gave up after that. Also you know them ads "Your computer has spyware, click here to remove it" etc. My mum always rings me almost in tears going: "OMG! OMG! OMG! Im so sorry, i think i just killed your computer". She gives me heart attacks.
When my grandfather was alive he and my grandmother would argue over the computer all the time. It was funny because when she'd get up to go somewhere he'd still be a little upset and go unplug it even though it was powered off.
I get my mother calling me at work to ask me how to fix something over the phone. Thankfully they seem to have learned enough to keep themselves safely occupied. For those of you who have had it with your family, friends, strangers, and whoever else begging for tech support you should look into this. There's also a travel thermos available.
Well I guess I can't complain about my one uncle, the computer room is right next to the full sized bar, of which I've dranken more than my fair share of the treasures it holds
Back in 98 my dad has managed to break 3 company computers in one week. Thet told him how to do various tasks just forgotten to explain to him how you actually turn the whole thing off. So my dad used to just unplug it as soon as he is done. No wonder his work was getting missing.
I used to work as a technical support representative in an ISP company and believe me i received a lot of granma calls asking how to use the internet. sometimes, it really gets into your nerves and my talk time would last an hour or two
Hahaha that is so funny. Your granny sounds so cute! I once tried to show my Grandfather how to use MSN because he lives in Italy and it's easier to chat on MSN than over the phone sometimes. But after an hour of trying to explain, I gave up. I was saying things like ''click on the start button'' and he kept asking ''Where is the start button?'' Drove me insane!
My grandparents only uses internet for e-mails I think. Well, recently they were installing broadband connections in the area they live and each flat got fast line internet connection for free (the set up, that is). My grandparents told the workers that they didn't want to change anything and that their modem works just fine. They refused to change and to take the free offer ... So they still use a modem ... Hehe
My mum who knows computer for a long time, may be 25 years still doesn't know how to print, and really she needs to call me on skype so i can help her to repare her printer, she calls me very often and the problem is always related about no more ink, paper stuck into the machine or because she forgot to plug her printer into her laptop
hodg, your granny is way to intelligent for a granny.... mine has no idea whats difference between a computer and a microwave
